Weird Covid Symptom: peripheral flashes of light

Posted by jwatzig @jwatzig, Aug 11, 2021

Hello, after ten days of bad Covid, I started seeing light flashes and light balls off the side of my head. Day and night. Very scary. Anyone else hear of this??

I’ve had flashing lights in my right eye since two weeks after getting bivalent shot in late October. Then I got Covid December 2nd and have gotten foggy vision in that same eye. Opthomologist says it is deteriorating aqueous humor. I’m 68.

Thank you for sharing this helpful information. The coenzyme Q-10 and magnesium glycinate supplements are also recommended for brain inflammation due to the Covid vaccines. The riboflavin is a photosensitizer that is excited by blue light. It may be a good idea to wear blue blocker sunglasses when outdoors or exposed to high intensity indoor lighting. Even though you are taking the supplement at night, your blood and tissue levels are increasing.

Hello pacer3702.
Can I ask you how you know about this. Did you get the same symptoms during / after Covid? I started this post and it's still happening to me. I have seen many doctors and no one has any answers for me. Do you know if these supplements will work for me?

My long Covid has brought twitching eyelids, photophobia, burning in my eyes also so many more symptoms it’s been 12 months .Eye doctors say eyes are fine but I have dry eyes and post Covid syndrome. They say see neurologist and the neurologist say see eye doctors for eyelid issues they don’t know anything about Covid

I'm also experiencing this white light show at the corner of both eyes as well as something I can only describeas "brain zaps" that happens from time to time. I've paid attention to the patterns and when it happens and I've noticed that it happened more often when I smoked weed or cigarettes, and every time I stopped smoking for several days it would go away. I thought maybe it's the cigarettes so I quit smoking cigarettes and weed completely 4 months ago and started vaping instead. The white light flashes did go away but they came back as soon as I started smoking weed again (not cigarettes but still vaping)
Other symptoms I've noticed are dry skin, poor circulation, brain fog, dehydration (which causes headaches)
It feels to me like the blood cells are not getting enough oxygen. Also possible low iron.
I'm not sure if anyone else in this comment section smokes weed or cigarettes but I do know that it definitely has something to do with it because the moment I stop it goes away every time.

It is happening to me also. Do you smoke (weed/cigarettes) by any chance? It always goes away in a few days when I stop smoking. As far as remedies, I'm not a doctor however, I would suggest "Stinging Nettle Seed" Tea or Tincture. Google or YouTube the benefits of Nettle Seed. IIt's properties can relieve just about anything going on in the body.

Hello Chrissy, my doctors have said these symptoms don't have anything to do with Covid, so this is very interesting to hear this. When you say you had a New Floater in your left eye, does that mean you had Floaters before?
I have never had light flashes or light floaters until 10 days into Covid.

Hi Jeff,

I just came online to find this information because I just started seeing what you described, and my husband has covid, so I thought maybe this is a symptom of covid too. Did yours eventually go away on its own?

Thanks,
Donna

Hi Donna,
I was a week into some bad Covid, when these light shapes started traveling by in peripheral vision. Its been a little over two years now, and it is still happening. Actually just happened as I am typing this.
The shapes are not as pronounced, and they have decreased, but, still happening.

Hi ok you might want to try a vision therapist. A vision therapist is an optometrist with the added credential of Vision Therapy. Ophthalmologists by the way, don't believe in it. A few years ago, I was experiencing light flashes (differently than what I experienced a few days ago, in shape and location, but nevertheless similar), and I sought out a vision therapist with great reviews. She fixed it! She did tests and then gave me exercises to do and it went away in about 6 weeks. But, just to make sure, the week after I had seen her, I had gone to an ophthalmologist retina specialist who just said that my eyes were fine and he had no idea what it was.

Hello,
I don't smoke (anything) and mine are not Flashes of light.
They are shapes that travel by, only in peripheral vision .
Thanks for reaching out though. Party on. lol
