Do side effects build up over time

I’ve heard of headaches with ethambutol but you should check with your doctor as many other reasons for headache and stiff neck

side effects definitely can build up over time on antibiotics.

I have been taking azithromycin since April and clofazimine since June . I was not experiencing trouble with it but the last three weeks I have had bad lower leg pain. My pd is checking different vitamins levels ( I am waiting for the results). Has anybody experienced leg pain with the mAC antibiotics.

@dantoine I will add my welcome to Mayo Connect to the chorus. As you can see, others have had side effects increase.
One thing I would like to mention is that when we don't feel well, we tend to neglect our bodies. One thing that was stressed by my doc was to be sure to drink a LOT of water and other clear beverages throughout the day, even if you don't feel thirsty. Another is to make sure to eat. If you have little or no appetite, small nutritious snacks every hour are very good. Finally, moving and stretching every hour or so are important. Each of these actions helps to move the medication through our body and maintain whatever level of fitness is possible during treatment.
Finally, my primary has always said is if a debilitating pain isn't relieved by Tylenol and lasts for 3 days, see the doc. In you situation, I would start with a call to the pulmonologist, but it would probably be faster to get in to see your regular doc to rule out another problem.

I have but mine is thought to be from ethambutol. It looks like you’re not taking that.

I am taking ethambutal. Headache and neck pain was excruciating last 5 days. Seeing my doctor today. Thanks for having me in the group.

With ethambutal watch for changes in vision. Have eyes checked more frequently or if you notice a change in visual acuity.

You could try stopping the medication for a few days and see if you improve.
Ethambutol dosage is chosen by your weight but it is possible to get blood levels tested. Questions for your doctor….
