Lung cancer, high blood calcium and bone mets

Hi Whahoo- I did have high calcium in my blood for years before my LUL Segmentectomy in March of 2023. That is one reason my new Dr. (Very smart Dr!) wanted me to get a lung cancer screening. He said that was a signal of lung cancer. Mine was a 1a-1b adenocarcinoma. I started taking Vitamin K2 and Vitamin D3 in January and the blood tests right before and after my surgery were in normal range. My PET scan showed no cancer anywhere else, Thanks be to God! I also stopped taking any type of calcium supplements, ( I was taking calcium for years for my bones), except what is in a multivitamin. I get my calcium from cottage cheese, yogurts, etc. I do drink a glass of milk every once in awhile with dinner if I don’t have any other form of calcium. The K2 is supposed to help your bones absorb and keep the calcium. I pray that this may help? I have my first CT check up (6 months post op) mid September. Wishing you ALL the Best!
Cindy

Thanks for the response. My oncologist took me off D3 saying that too much D3 can cause high calcium in the blood. My calcium was within the normal range before surgery in April 2023 and after surgery until the last test on August 14. Maybe it’s an anomaly. Not sure what I’ll do. I have another blood test coming up in Sept. Good luck on your follow-up CT.
