Posted by frito123 @frito123, Jul 30, 2023

Hi, I am new to this. I am schedule to have this done next week:
XI ROBOTIC- ASSISTED
LAPAROSCOPIC BILATERAL SALPINGO-OOPHORECTOMY, POSSIBLE STAGING (TOTAL HYSTERECTOMY, OMENTECTOMY, PELVIC LYMPH NODE DISSECTION), POSSIBLE LAPAROTOMY, ALL OTHER INDICATED

I am not sure what to expect, I am 65 years old, As far as what I can do, how I should feel. I have 2 dogs, that like to lay on my lay on my lap, on is 12 years old and the other is a puppy, they both weigh over 10 lbs. Sorry if I am rambling. I don’t have any relatives or friends who have gone through this. Please give me some advice. Thank you

Good news !!

I had the same in April 2023, doing much better after 7-10 days. Overall had a very successful surgery and recovery.

Did you adhere to the restrictions, even though you felt better. It has been a week now, and I do feel much better, than I had.

Yes I did for the most part. I took it easy until my 6 weeks check up but I did walk every.

That is my problem right now and my family’s. I feel so much better, than I did. I just don’t know how to handle things. Fortunately I have my follow up tomorrow and I am going to ask what I can and can’t do.

Hi I am 63 years old and had the same surgery Jan last year. I have a work at home desk job so I thought surely I only need 2 wks and I'll be fine. Haha wrong. I needed to take it easy (feeling exhausted is real). I needed to let go of some feelings of obligations. I did get better and eventually felt so luch better than before the surgery. Definitely take the time even if you 'feel ok'. I also had a dog (recently passed at 14 yrs) who liked to lay with me. I encouraged him to snuggle next to me rather than on me. He seemed to instively knew that I hurt otherwise and complied. My advice is don't rush things, listen to the doctor and listen to your body. Tune everything else out (no guilt trip I should be...., no family/friend/co worker/Google search that days "you should/must/can"). While others even on this site (me included) are in the same "shoes", how you will walk through your journey in them is uniquely and beautifully you!
