I have the prothrombin mutation along with Factor V Leiden. I also have CLL and a tendency toward anemia, so I always just say my blood is rebellious 😂
Welcome to Connect @jbeckm and thank you, @tlb, for jumping into the discussion. I’d done quick search in the forum and hadn’t seen any other references to Factor ll prothrombin.
This is an inherited condition which increases the potential for blood clots.

Have you experienced a blood clot? What lead to your diagnosis?
Yes I have had three “provoked” DVTs in my lower legs, so nothing too scary. My sister had a very serious clot that required hospitalization. Based on her test results, my CLL doctor at Mayo thought it worth testing me too. My sister and I have the same clotting mutations. Thankfully she didn’t pass them on to her kids. My kids will be tested in the near future.
So many mysteries in our genetics. It’s good that you and your sister were tested and the kids too! Knowledge is power and this gives them all a leg up…clot free. Sorry that was a bad pun. 😅
When you say provoked DVTs, of course that piqued my interest…
“Provoked” meaning I could identify something that probably triggered the clot. Now maybe those clots would have happened anyway, but each time there was a solid period of inactivity leading up to the clot. Once was after surgery on my foot. Another was after sitting in cramped high school stadium stands for about 14 hours one day for a wrestling tournament.
