Nerve's burned off from c2-6 to stop migraines worked!

Posted by sharonmay7 @sharonmay7, Apr 8, 2016

This month I have had the nerve's burned off from c2-6 . trying to stop my migraines! For the past year I have had. Bad migranes 25 days out off every month! It has been 2 weeks since they did the right side and three weeks since they did the leftt side. In that time i hav only had one migrane that lasted 2 days!!!! I think this worked!! Has anyone else had this done or even had this brought up by there dr?? Everyone said this would NOT help my headacks even Dr Maroon, a wellknowen specialist in his field from pitts. PA. He works with the steelers foot ball team. But i wanted to try everything. Im very glad i did, it seems to have worked!!!. I would love to know if anyoneelse has tried this and if it worked.

Welcome to Connect @sharonmay7. That is quite the story. I can't begin to imagine the relief you must be feeling. I, too, will be interested to hear if anyone else has tried this or thought about it.

Sharon, were you a candidate for this procedure because you were diagnosed with occipital neuralgia?

Colleen,
thanks for your post. I have not been told about that. They just say that I have typical migraine headaches. The symptoms sound about the same. They started when I started my periods at age 16, 3-6 days every month till my change of life around age 50. Then last year they came back. (I am 62 yrs. Old at this time).Only worse then before lasting 20-25 days a month. Now they say that the migranes i have now are from the brain damage. They believe that the brain damage was caused from having such severe migraines. They r just now saying that migraines cause brain damage. Something no one knew back when I was young. Anytime I here someone talking about migraines I try to get them to make a appointment with a nurlogest for there migraines. So they don't end up with brain damage. Hopefully the rhizotomy will take care of the migrane problem. Although I was told that it probably would not work for my migraines, I took the chance because there wasn't much left to try. So far it is working. I have only had a migraine for 2 days in 3 weeks. That is the longest I've gone for 14 months. If there is anything else I can help u with feel free to ask. Sharon

I never heard of it but I will research it and ask MD (says the sad one who's battling a migraine as she replies!).
Thanks.

Hi @sharonmay7, I hope that you keep us posted on the results of the treatment you're getting for your migraines.

@ritamcc are you currently going through a similar experience?
