Pain in my right hip

This is my first post in the Bones, Joints and Muscles section. About 4 weeks ago I started having pain in my right hip area. I felt it as I was walking up the steps with a few grocery bags. At the time I thought I had pulled a muscle and the pain would subside in a few days, the way a simple muscle pull would do.. It has not gone away and in fact seems to be getting worse. I haven't fallen and nothing has smashed me in the hip but that's how it feels! I looked for a bruised area, but nothing on the outside.

If it's a pulled muscle, (the pain seems to radiate from my hip bone down to the thigh) does anyone know how long it would last and why it's getting worse? I mentioned this to my Oncologist at our appointment on Monday and she immediately suggested I have an MRI with contrast (scheduled for Apr. 11th) of my abdomen and pelvic area. I wonder if she thinks it could be bone mets since I have liver and lung mets from my colon cancer. She didn't give me any thoughts on that, but that's what I think she's thinking to rule it out or confirm. I'm not sure if an MRI would show a muscle pull?

@success101 Hello. Sorry that you've been told you have bursitis. I hope you get relief
The MRI or CT scan (not sure what to call them as I've had so many different scans this past year) is what showed that my colon cancer has metasticized to my bones (also my liver and lungs.)
The bone "lesion" is sort of eating away at my right hip bone (iliac crest I think it's called. )

@colleenyoung The cancer center that I had been going to for this past year is about 45 minutes to 1 hour's drive. Lots of traffic and some construction on the roads has me at the "last straw" not to mention that I feel like the Oncologist that I've been seeing there did not have the least concern for the horrible excruciating pain I've been in, (other than ordering the CT scan on April 4th.) She booked my next appointment for May 9th !!
I was supposed to wait over a month to find out that I now have bone mets?? While not being able to walk anymore...I haven't been able to put weight on my right leg since mid-March. I'm not a big person and only weigh 132 lbs..

Anyway, There is a cancer center 12 miles from my house and they do radiation therapy. I'll start this week.
(Long story...When I went to the Univ. of Penn in Philadelphia last April 1,2015 for a "second opinion", They actually recommended the place where I have been going. (Philadelphia is a 3-hour drive, so, I've only had the Y-90 procedures there.)

I can't believe I let it go on for a year. I'm going to transfer to this closer facility and hope I get better care (even though they were unknown to the great doctors at the Abramson Cancer Center.) Although it did take a few phone calls from my Oncologist at the Univ. of Penn to this new cancer center to get me "fast tracked" and in the door, for which I'm forever grateful.

I hope it's OK to post in 2 areas, as I just found out I posted this update in a different group. So, A quick update here, ...that 2 weeks of radiation therapy did help YAY. On the pain scale, it went from 10 down to a 3, then in the next 2 to 3 weeks down to a 2. The lesion is still there but somehow the radiation did something to help. I go for my checkup with them on the 29th. My insurance has allowed for me to have physical therapist come to my home to give me exercises to rebuild all the muscle tone I've lost these past months. I just started driving again last week although I still haven't attempted the 2-mile walk, but do walk around the stores when I go shopping.
