Protein In Urine, Test Says High
Just had labs done last week. Urine test shows protein and it’s labeled “High”.
I have an appointment with a nephrologist soon but I am wondering what high protein levels are. The report says 30 H.
Then there’s, Leukocyte Esterase, Urine Qualitative; Moderate
If anyone can shed some light about this I would appreciate it.
Thanks

What does high protein in urine mean exactly, high weight loss, healing issues, anemia prone ?
A couple of things. On this forum, we talk a lot about the significance of the trend rather than any one point in time. Granted, an abnormality at one point in time is alarming, but either retest immediately or wait 6 to 8 weeks again to see if a trend develops. For me, personally, I had a long term trend of high protein in urine as well. It took a while, but I was able to lower my lab results with the help of a dietitian and my urologist..
@collegeprof thank you. I appreciate your help.
@SusanEllen66 Any time we have a test result that is not what we expect to see, it can cause fear to strike in us, can't it? But, as @collegeprof mentioned, we surely want to look at trends, not a single result.
Dehydration, stress, side effects of a medication - all can play a part in results that fall out of the normal range. What has your doctor told you, or suggested?

@gingerw thank you. She said that I’m ok and that the little bit of protein is probably from the autoimmune diseases I have.
I may start infusions of ivig soon for another autoimmune condition then she will have to keep an eye on me.
@SusanEllen66 Good that you both will keep an eye out on this, and watch the trends in labwork. That is often how a new condition can be recognized!
