Any other parents, grandparents of children with leukemia?
I am a grandmother of a just turned 5 yr old with ALL
He is currently in inter maintenance 2
It’s been a difficult journey since diagnosis on 12/30/22
Would like to connect with other grandparents and hear about their journey and supporting their child while having their heart broken with leukemia diagnosis

Hello @collierga, Oh goodness, kids just should never have to endure cancer. I can imagine the heartbreak of hearing the diagnosis for your little grandson. Acute Lymphoblastic Leukemia is sadly, one of the most common childhood blood cancers.
What is good news, is that, according to statistics from St Jude, About 98% of children with ALL go into remission within weeks after starting treatment.
About 90% of those children can be cured. Patients are considered cured after 10 years.
While you’re waiting for other members who may have grandchildren or children with ALL, I’ve found a couple of relevant informational articles.

I’m happy to hear your little guy has gotten through his first rounds of chemo/consolidation and is in remission. That’s very encouraging. Has he been regaining energy and feeling better?
Thank you so much
I am happy to report that he is doing remarkable
We survived first illness , hand foot and mouth. It only delayed treatment for one week
He is a twin and they celebrated their 5th birthday last week.
Monday he goes for another spinal tap and chemo. Our next hurdle is kindergarten and keeping him healthy
