How long before relapse occurs or ADT fails?

My husband Gleason 4/4 no metastasis.
Post 44 radiation 30 days and first injection Lupron done in April stamina down 50 %.
How r u coping with fatigue?
My husband also gets over whelmed easily.
Next month they want him to start him on alberiterone and prednisone.
His argument is if the radiation killed the tumor, why more adt?
Have u had any systemic affects from radiation they haven’t told u about that we should know?

I love my oncologist response when I asked her directly "How long will ADT Last" question. Her reply was wonderful. A very heart felt. "We keep trying with ADT, again and again and again and again, and when that fails we make adjustments and try again and again." There was no direct answer, or generality, which is what I was looking for. It was a shuttle reminder of why we do these quarterly blood test and PSA's.

I track my quality of life (QOL). Every oncology visit I report my QOL findings/trackings. It's a direct response to her first question to me which is always "How are you?" It helps her go beyond the blood test numbers.

I feel great PSA back to 1,7 from 9.8 just before Xtandi started Prognosis is good as even if Xtand stops working there are several other new medicines

Thanks for the comments. I also feel great. PSA < 0.1. As good as before diagnosed, except for the side effects of medication. Just wondering reading the manufacturer's statement. Guess they like to be cautious.

No real answer to how long it lasts from what I’ve read. Sometimes it says Long has people feel they can stay on a ADH. It can be a tough road to follow after a while. I have been on it for five years. My PSA has just started to rise, but Dr. still wants me to stay on because he said it’s still might be working a bit. I was stage four and I think doctors were surprised a bit, that first reoccurrence has taken five years also Zytiga .

What do you mean I was stage 4? Are you no longer ?
Where did PC metastasize to?
Has it withdrawn with medication? Which med is best?

I am curious too if the stage ever changes for the better after treatment. If it is in the lymph nodes it that considered stage 4, or not unless it mets outside of prostate region?

It is still stage 4 localized, then regional then distant Survival stats differ but now new rugs need to be factored in

Indeed new drugs comes into play, and seems at an accelerating rate. The newer the literature or video, the harder it seems to distinguish between cure and remission. At one time, a cure is defined as surgical removal. But as good doctor points out, it may take 10- 20 years to know how good the treatment is compared to surgery. For that matter, whether surgery is 100% certain to prevent any relapse. With more clinical experience, the distinction seems less well defined.

Hi all I had my prostate out in 2014. Earlier this year in April my prostate count went up to 1.79. and it had moved into my lymph notes. So at this moment in time, I am stage four. Having chemo and hormone injections. I don’t actually know what the outcome is going to be. So having your prostate out, doesn’t actually mean you’re cured. if you do have your prostate out, I’d recommend you going for a six-month blood test. my doctors miss mine.
