Diverticulosis throughout entire colon -anyone?
I have diverticulosis throughout my entire colon. I have had many bouts of diverticulitis on my left side. I think it is not common to have diverticulosis throughout, but I was wondering if anyone else has this, and do you know why?

Hi Tom, I guess you would call it standard laparoscopic sigmoid colectomy (robot was not used).
Regardless I cannot say enough about the peripheral nerve block, the pain following surgery was practically nonexistent!
God Bless!
Hi there
I"m in the confused stage. Never any digestive issues prior to this year, I've had 3 attacks now. I have a healthy diet/l ifestyle, exercise. I chose to continue eating my plant based, high fiber, nuts & seeds, all that stuff, but this last attached I ended up in the hospital for 5 days (long story). So, I'm just confused as how to proceed with eating. The dr's say I'm a candidate for the sigmoid surgery.
Anyway, I hear Dr. Gundry behind the foods/supplements you've mentioned. I appreciate any diet ideas that have worked for you.
Thanks.
When I was told that I had diverticulosis and I must not eat the wrong food, but not told what. So, I googled what not to eat with diverticulosis and also what to eat with diverticulosis. It helped me a lot. I now eat only chicken and fish, have pasta with pesto, and now after 4 months, I feel better and ate some ice cream again. Whoopie.
I would like to know if oral thrush can cause irritation of the throat and esophagus. I have a small hiatal hernia and was diagnosed with GERD about nine years ago. Right now I have thrush again, and my throat hurts. EMO
If you want to and have time, please tell me what your symptoms that you needed help with by having diverticulosis. I am trying to determine whether it is causing some symptoms that I'm having, or if it is a nerve issue. Thank you.
If you can get a hold of this article, it's open access. Lucas J P, Roberts C A, Gunderson C A, et al. (September 17, 2020) Acquired Diverticulosis of the Entire Colon in a Cadaver. Cureus 12(9).
The article states that "Patients with pancolonic diverticula may waarrant genetic evaluation to rule-out collagen disorders."
I have pandiverticulosis, too. Many diverticula throughout the whole colon. I haven't yet had diverticulitis. I do have chronic constipation. Hope this helps!
I find that proper hydration is helpful. I am intolerant of caffeine which dehydrates the colon. Sometimes, it seems to just happen. But it seems to definitely happen when I don't drink enough water. The doctors always tell me to watch my diet but they never say to be sure that I stay hydrated.
My diverticulosis didn't have symptoms until the pocket(s) became infected. The main symptom was pain that continued until I couldn't stand up straight or sit down. The pain is in the area where the infection is, usually left lower pelvis. It can radiate to other areas such as the back and thighs. Because it is in the colon and digestion causes movement there, the pain can seem constant or it can come and go. Bowel movements can be painful, but afterwards you can experience relief. You can have other sytoms that indicate you have an infection (fever, body aches, chills, etc.) As long as there are no complications (abcess, rupture) your body can fight the infection or you have to take antibiotics.
I will see if I can find the article. I was thinking it could be collagen related, especially with some of the other issues I have had. I am having genetic testing next year for Ehlers Danlos Syndrome. I wish I could get in sooner. I am hopeful to get a diagnosis. Thank you for sharing the info.
I just got diagnosed with diverticulitis throughout my whole colon as well! I was told increase fiber and prescribed Bentyl and Levsin.
