Leg cramps at night

Posted by sparklegram @sparklegram, Aug 19, 2022

Hello everyone. I only have 4 more months on Tamoxifen and my 5 years will be up. I'm having bad leg cramps at night. Has anyone else had this side effect from Tamoxifen?

I buy frozen pickle pops or just drink a little pickle juice for cramps and so does my son. It works great for us. I’m not to have a lot of sodium so I don’t dink much and it really works for us. God bless and prayers for you🙏🙏🙏

The pickle juice sounds interesting. I don't know why my cramps stopped. Maybe they were mostly a side effect of my chemo for breast cancer. I'm doing fine now. I kind of forget things that bothered me in the past. Now my problem is my neuropathy in my feet from the chemo andthat isn' going to improve. As they say, I'm just happy to be alive at the age of almost 82. I can walk and even sprint if I have to.

I would get leg cramps from lactic acid build up after a long day of wheelchairing or lactose from dairy

I had only wicked leg cramps with Letrozole and nothing seemed to shift them, no electrolytes or magnesium, nothing. One of the onco doctors said to drink Schweppes tonic water, I guess because of the qunin. It helped instantly. I would have gone on supplement instead of the tonic water to avoid the sugar but I was taken off Letrozole and Ibrance because they didn’t work anymore. Now on Xeloda and I have very little cramps and put up with it as taking all the other meds is already a full time job….

You might want to try Theraworx Leg Cramp
Foam and Magnesium supplement.

@ruth7

I think you might be lacking in magnesium. Take a daily tablet and see if the cramps go away. Or a couple of tablets during a cramping episode

Hey Ruth, already taking magnesium glycinate 400mg which together with Centrum Silver is daily requirement. Heard potassium might help

Potassium does seem to help but you can get too much in your system pretty easily if you aren’t careful. This is especially true with diabetes. Magnesium powder in a drink is my go to first. Get too much and it can send you to the bathroom. Moderation is definitely key here.
@roewes07 and @sparklegram how are you doing with leg cramps now?

Hi auntieoakly! My leg cramps are much better. Still have them periodically, but nothing like before.

Leg cramps taking Anastrozole. Tonic water and Magnesium have been very helpful. Careful with the Mag as it can cause frequent stools. Also stay hydrated (with tonic water lol)
