Need pillow recommendations
I had my C6-C7 fusion done in April. I am currently struggling to find a pillow that will support my neck. I have a small frame and waking up neck pain is affecting my day. I go to PT 3 times a week. And this pillow issue is not helping my recovery.
I am currently testing the
Elviros Cervical Memory Foam Pillow but it is not helping.
Any suggestions would be appreciated.

Hello @lawilson, Welcome to Connect. @jenniferhunter, @njh, @grandmar and others may have some suggestions for pillows that might help after C6-C7 fusion surgery. While we wait for others to share what has helped them, I found an article with some recommendations that might be helpful.

I'm wondering if your doctor or care team might also have some recommendations. Have you discussed your neck pain and problems finding a pillow that will support your neck with them?
I had C5-C6 fusion and the went thru the quest to find the right pillow. Believe or not the My Pillow was the answer for me, I found it very shape-able to form the right support to position my neck in a neutral spinal alignment and fit the curve of my head. Because of lumber fusions I am mostly a side sleeper and turn side to multiple times a night. Hope this helps. george
First off, know that whatever discomfort you are experiencing will slowly dissipate in the weeks to come. I had a C4-7 “full monty” in Feb and I sleep on a sobakawa buckwheat husk pillow. Two reasons: (1) It is filled with little hard husks which, when taken as a whole, are very comfortable and universally adjustable to fit your head, neck, elevation issues, etc. (2) The husks drain away head heat at night allowing comfortable temperature sleep. A sobakawa is available on Amazon (what isn’t?).
Relax the Back has a great selection of pillows designed for people of different sizes and different sleeping positions (i.e., side sleepers, back sleepers, etc.). I have two different pillows from them and use one for sleeping on my back and one for sleeping on my side. If there is a local store near you then you can even visit and try as many as you like before deciding which to buy. Otherwise, look at their online options and place your order on the website. Highly recommended.
I love my Tempurpedic pillow but it is not shareable.
All the best in your search.
Molded cervical pillows have never worked for me. I use Bucky brand buckwheat pillows, currently in combination with a soft super-thin regular pillow. I’ve experimented a lot and like the custom stabilization for my head and neck provided by the buckwheat pillows.
Hi there
I had a spur taken out of my spinal cord at c6 then a cage and the usual bolts and nuts over c567. I feel like a bowling ball is on a match stick. Worst thing I did was do the exercises the physio gave me with a stretchy thing to pull against I was never the same.
I am from Australia but if you look up Super Sleeper Pro they have pillows that you can add or take out the filling as desired. Surprisingly I found myself topping up with more as I am a side sleeper. But your neck and shoulder falls to where it needs to be in the memory filling that is very light and not stiff at all. It is all in little bits on the inside. I found Aldi had one similar that I bought to add some more filling. See how you go but I spent hundreds of dollars on pillows prior to finding this amazing one. Good luck and all I can say is Osteo Therapy has changed my life. Still not fixed but by geez the side stretches the do are amazing and at least I am now sane
Hi there. I had major surgery and spent hundreds on pilllws until I came across one called super sleeper pro.
I have left a message below incase it helps all the way from Australia. Cheers
Alot of people reading this might disagree with me. I have never had back or neck problems but had chest surgery, I was given 2 my pillows from freinds to hug while I was sleeping and they were more comfortable than the 6 brands that I had already tried. I believe they have a money back guarantee so if you dont like them return them. Good luck Dave
Try wearing a soft travel pillow that wraps around the back of your neck. Not sure is it will help you, but it sure did me.
