Can PMR (Polymyalgia Rheumatica) be induced by vaccine?

Posted by kristem2020 @kristem2020, Jan 2, 2021

Good evening, I’ve recently been diagnosed with PMR. It came on a week after my flu shot October 23, 2020.

Has anyone experienced the same diagnosis after a flu shot?

The problem with not treating the inflammation is developing Giant Cell Arteritis. (GCA). That can cause priblens including blindness. Yes, prednisone is a strong drug and some experience side effects, mine after six weeks are minimal but I no longer have any PMR pain.
I hope you look into this a bit more. And best of luck to you.

Hmm, perhaps steer your rheumy to the NIH Study.

Developed PMR within 2 weeks of my second Covid booster. Then within two months GCA. It appears that there is a correlation. However, many doctors seem afraid to confirm the relationship. Two of my doctors have indicated a relationship to me.

It is unfortunately that doctor's will not confirm these cases. Mine is reluctant to confirm and I don't understand that. How many coincidence can you have before it's obviously the cause of these terrible diseases. I believe it's their job/duty to report this so others can make an informed decision as to whether or not they want to get the vaccine and take that chance

Patients can and should report any adverse vaccine side effects to the Vaccine Adverse Event Reporting System (VAERS) - https://vaers.hhs.gov/reportevent.html

I had 3 Pfizer vax and my 4th booster was Moderna. I had muscle soreness after all shots but the 4th booster sent me to the doctor with stiffness, pain in pelvis, hips, knees etc. He diagnosed PMR. I am down to 5 mg and doing fairly well. I know from this forum (thank you everyone!!!) that getting down to zero will be very tough.
I will never take another mRNA vaccination. I am hoping that if I get Covid, the current treatments will get me through it. I am balancing the risks of Covid versus mRNA vax - I am choosing no more vax.
I would love to see data on the number of cases of PMR by age group since mRNA vaccinations started especially in the trial participants.

I had my 4th COVID vax in April of ‘22. By June I could barely move. I was diagnosed with PMR in mid August and have been on Pred since then. I got COVID 2 months ago after attending a funeral where someone came sick. I got Paxlovid the day after I tested positive and did ok. I won’t get another mRNA vax either.

I also got 3 Pfizer shots. Not because I wanted to but because I wanted to visit my mother who lives in a long-term care facility in Canada.
Some months after my last I contracted PMR !
I am a snowbird so I spend most of my time in Washington State and the winter months in Arizona.
My washington doctor would never admit that the covid vaccine could possibly induce PMR..... But my doctor in Arizona told me not to get any more shots!! She was pretty sure that that's what caused my PMR
I am going to report my situation as well. Thank you for the informatio
