I have had plantar fasciitis for 7 weeks following a partial knee replacement.

I have had plantar fasciitis for 7 weeks following a partial knee replacement. I am sleeping in a brace, doing PT stretches, wearing heel gels and even had a cortisone injection, but it's not getting better. Any advice out there? By 2:30 PM every day it becomes extremely difficult to walk.

HI @leh09. Welcome to Connect! Sorry to hear what you are going through. Sounds like you are doing all the right things and it may just take some more time. Are you seeing a PT? Have they given any new suggestions? Are you icing at all? Here's an article from Mayo Clinic about home remedies and it suggests icing: http://www.mayoclinic.org/diseases-conditions/plantar-fasciitis/basics/lifestyle-home-remedies/con-20025664. Try having orthotics made to go in your shoes that gives you arch
supports. It takes LOTS of time for the inflammation to subside. Be
careful to not go barefoot, shoes that give you support. I've been
through this off and on several years.
I purchased expensive insoles with arch support but they hurt my feet even more. I've tried gel heel cups and they are slightly better. ANYTHING that puts any pressure on my arch causes more pain later in the day. Going barefoot produces less pain. It's counterintuitive but is helping. Where did you get your custom orthotics?

Hi:
I am in a similar situation as you are, only I have foot issues now and going in for the knee replacement surgery in a few months.
I have gotten Cortisone shots for the fasciitis and that usually works, but not recently.
My podiatrist has suggested stem cell therapy which I am considering in a week or so.
The podiatrist said he has had good results with this stem cell therapy. It may help with the knee replacement as well, but I do not know for sure.
You might see if that is something you would find helpful.
I live in West Palm Beach Florida.
The podiatrist is Dr. Cutler in Royal Palm Beach Florida a suburb of the city I live in.
If you need any more information, I will try to get it to you.

You may want to ask your doctor about a home stretching device, called Dynasplint. It will help your plantar fasciitis because you can use it while your sleeping or anytime during the day for several hours. Hopefully, you day to day life style will allow adequate time. Hope this helps!
