Hu, @jeffsmock We found an egg-crate pad on the bed to help with this for my wife. After a time we had to switch to a hospital bed with an inflatable mattress that would slowly, but contantly change the inflation/pressure. Also, I will look and see if I can find the salve her hospice nurse used on her bedsores. Over the salve we found Mepilex pads to be the most effective, easy on her skin, and yet durable.

Have you tried Zinc supplements and/or Zimc supplementation.
Turn every 2 hours
Wt loss if necessary. Balanced diet.
Weight gain?
Protein supplements like Ensure Plus. Because, the wound is leading protein and vitamin/minerals.
Work on a pressure sore care team at a Skilled nursing facility/rehab unit.
I am a retired dietitian. HOpe this helps! Pat
Balmex is one of the best ointments for pressure sores I was told by a nurse. It puts a barrier between the place and moisture. It is also great for chaffing and heat rash. It's thick and looks like zinc oxide, but, it works great. I hope this helps. Blessings....
@jeffmock
Have you tried tie-tree oil it’s a natural antiseptic and help with healing also try rotating her from time to time say every four to six hour’s from her back to laying on her said depending on how she can tolerate it from one side to the other it takes the pressure off her bottom where the pressure sore is if you need to put pillowed behind her back it will her will help her stay in that position
I use to be a nurses aid and then had my own Home health care business for years also you can try vitamin E oil it is also natural and cheaper then the tit tree oil you can get it any drug store Walmart Walgreens CVS clean the wound with warm water and a mild soap like Johnson’s baby soap with no perfume in it then clean good with a clean warm wash rag nothing but warm water to get the soap off be gentle then apply oil and do not cover with anything leave it exposed to the air sores need air to help them heal it’s a little bit of work but it should help her a lot
I hope this help you Jeff and her
I know pressure sores can hurt a lot so be gentle
You can let me know if you need help with anything I will help if I can
I will not give you medical advice

A friend of mine who is paraplegic had the same situation, after trying many remedies, the nurse put honey on her bedsore and it finally healed.

Of course if you have a problem with ants in your area, best to put out ant stakes prior to trying this.
Best of luck to you and your wife.
Vellen,
Thank you very much.
