Laryngitis

Posted by pml @pml, Jul 12, 2023

My husband, Ed has lung cancer. Recently he has developed laryngitis. We are treating it with hot salt water and a tablespoon of molasses daily. We saw the doctor recently and he approved of these methods of treating the laryngitis. However, it's not going away. Any suggestions?
Thank you!

Try honey & lemon or lemon ginger hot tea by celestial seasoning. Praying right now.

Update:
Ed still has laryngitis. Nothing we tried or the suggestions have seemed to work. However, the Mayo Clinic said that Mucinex was good for laryngitis. Ed took it and it's working! His voice is back to normal. He can only take it for 7 days. So, we'll see what happens then. We see the doctor again on August 10th.

Another update:
I did some research on which of Ed's medications cause hoarseness. Three can but he only takes them "as needed" and lately, he hasn't needed them at all. However, two others can also cause hoarseness and those are not "as needed". Luckily, both the primary care doctor and the cancer doctor said he could stop those two medications. He has stopped them and his voice is improved immensely!

Thank you for all of your prayers! They are being answered!
