Adenocarcinoma - newly diagnosed
Hello. I am new to this group. Thank you in advance for any guidance and or support you have to offer. I have been diagnosed with adenocarcinoma of the upper right lung. Have had a bronchocoscopy, x-rays, CT and lung biopsy - which determined the diagnosis. I have an appointment this Tuesday for a PET scan to determine staging, and a breathing test will follow. The only symptom I have had is hoarseness in my voice. Otherwise I feel fine. I am simply terrified and still in shock.

Thank you, Diane. I'm sorry that you have to go through cancer. Where is your cancer? Are you finished with treatments?

Cindy-There are a lot of ways to live through loss. Any loss, even organ loss, is a time to grieve although many people don't think about it that way.
I first began writing and then started a blog. I came to Connect because I felt that it was a good way to help other cancer survivors. Cancer is not an ingrown hair. It sucks, is hard to go through, it's tiring and mentally debilitating to a lot of people. And never mind the chemicals that are poured into us, one way or another! I felt like I was fair game for everything. How can I not share my struggles with others so they can have an easier time?
And yet here you are too! You can't compare my journey with others or even yourself. Mine has just been a bit longer but I'm sure that you have been through a lot of the same things that I have!
Lung cancer. No, I am on a maintenance regimen for these months. I have a ct and blood work scheduled for this next weekend. Then I should get some new advice on treatment or possibly be entered into another clinical trial.
Merry.....So please keep us up to date! Optimistic for a good outcome!

I had two catskins at my local hospital and they came back with findings I'm not even sure of but I do have lung cancer they told me and they have booked me for a breathing test this Friday and on the 20th I have to go for a PET scan in Toronto that is 165 miles away I don't know how I'm going to get there I live in Kingston Ontario and I went in the winter I had a bad cold I thought and my family doctor no tests or anything whatsoever give me two separate antibiotics and two separate prednisone prescriptions which done nothing I went to the hospital on my own in April took the first CAT scan and I said they seen spots on my lung I had to have another one done and now they're sending me for this breathing test and to Toronto for the Pet Scan I don't even know how to get there I'm on a pension I'm 67 years old and have no income to say
Just to add to my comment above I've had COPD for the last 15 years
Is there anyone here they can offer me some help as to what I should do I live in Kingston Ontario Canada the Cancer Clinic has been in touch with me but I have not been appointed a doctor until I have this pet scan done
I'm sorry for your loss, but glad you are back on board and healing, energy hugs!!
I checked on line and you can get a PET Scan in Kingston. I would call them or your doctors office and just tell them you are unable to get to Toronto. I’ve found the cancer clinics and everyone I’ve dealt with to be wonderful and most accommodating. I’ve put their contact information here for you. It’s the Kingston Health Sciences Centre. Good Luck
Hi Meka- So good to hear from you, even in my circumstance. Thank you. What is going on with you?
