Do you have increased coughing at night?
Hi all, I tend to have more (dry) cough at night when I lay down even though during the day I do two 7% saline solution nebulizing and can cough up a lot of yellowish sputum and I think my lung should be clearer at night. Do you have simile experience or can help explain the cause of the night cough? The cough disrupts my sleep and that of my family members. Thanks!

To prevent coughing that keeps me awake at night or interrupts my sleep, I’ve started nebulizing my 7% saline around 7:30 p.m. That brings up the mucus that would have been in my lungs. I now sleep much better.
Once the night coughing starts, I found that sitting up and breathing slowly— inhale, hold it in for a few seconds, and then slowly exhale— stops the urge to cough in a few minutes, allowing me to get back to sleep. There some times I give in and take a half-teaspoon of codeine cough syrup, but usually, the slow breathing does the trick.
I, too, have started nebbing later in the evening and it does help reduce any night coughing. Also, I found a 1/2 teaspoon of manuka honey helps. I take it straight or in a cup of tea.
