I have anemia and low blood Platelets due to previous drinking.
I have severe bleeding from my gums and nose and it is becoming intolerable. I feel so ashamed that I did this to myself through drinking. Has anyone else had this horrid problem as it's ruining my life.

Me too but I'm not holding my breath x
It’s ok to be assertive. 😊 Sometimes we have to be the squeaky wheel….
Hi @cherylgeo, it’s been a couple of weeks since we’ve chatted so I’m hoping all is well. Any news from the hematology consultant?
Cheryl - as you served in the British armed forces, you could try the Royal British Legion for help. I don't know what exactly you need, nor what they can offer, but they are there to help veterans. Were you in the WRAC? They may have a benevolent fund.
It has been months since we last had a report on your situation. Did you see the hematologist? Any help?
Thanks for checking on me as that made me feel less alone..I ended up in a and e due to a severe bleeding from my tongue. It was so scarey and even my 33 year old son panicked! It was disgusting and I was totally embarrassed as there were children there and I ended up standing at the door! The doctor ended up placing adrenaline directly onto my bleed with a gause and pressure for half an hour and thank goodness it stopped. My haematology doctor said he feels the liver doctors need to be more involved and they have booked me a scan to see if my liver is hard hence my spleen not coping. I feel like I am dying literally and they have given up!! On top of that since I cut out the alcohol I am suffering extreme insomnia and anxiety and my gp will not give me any diazapam even though I only ask for 14 2mg tablets twice a year!
My heart is working really hard and I can feel it pulsating in my chest and throat. It keeps me awake most nights . On arrival at hospital I was tachycardia 128 and even at doctors surgery was 120 beats and all he offered was betablockers which I refused. My heart is beating because I'm severely anemic and have deranged clotting!
My rhumatoid arthritis is at a bad stage and I'm suffering really bad cramps in my hands and feet. I give up.
Kindest regards
Cheryl
