How long does it take for Tymlos side effects to subside?
I’ve been in Tymlos for two months now and have bone pain, dizziness and just overall aches and pains. Does this get better?

I was approved for the Tymlos manufacturer’s coupon and have been given $7,000 on it per year to pay for it. I am 62, and my doctor advised me to do my two years on Tymlos before I hit 65 because sadly, this coupon is not available to me when I get on Medicare. Only given to people with commercial insurance for some reason. I have been on it for 3 months. I do still have the heart palpitations for about 30 minutes after my shot, but they have lessened some from when I started. I take it about 30 minutes before I go to bed so I don’t feel them when I am trying to go to sleep. I have gotten used to them so they don’t really bother me now. Other than this, I have not noticed any other side effects thankfully. I already had pain in my joints from my arthritis so I would not know if this has caused any pain. No nausea or increased tiredness that I can tell. I have been pleasantly surprised because I was very hesitant to start it, and was worried about the side effects. I have used the full 80 mcg dose from day one, but I usually tolerate medications fairly well.
Hello windyshores.
I am small as well. 5’8” and 116lbs. Very small frame with long thin bones. Are you more petite than me?
May I ask your height and weight? Bigger people tolerate the medicine
better possibly. I am only 5’3 and 110lbs
Yes I am pretty tall for a female. I am 5’11” and 165 pounds.
This is what I’m so afraid of. I feel great now but my doctor insists I need the drugs. What if I lose my mobility? It’s so hard to decide what to do with the risks. My heart goes out to everyone in this situation.
Two clicks is a good start to get you acquainted with the process and to ease the worries. Each person should decide when to go up. I went a little faster because my endocrinologist said she didn’t have a problem with it as long as I got to a therapeutic dose (the lowest dose at which the medicine yields the needed results) as soon as possible, and I knew that 3 or 4 clicks weren’t a therapeutic dose.
Since the maximum you can use this medication is 2 years, I am trying to balance my side effects with trying to get the most benefit out of it.
Of course, you should always discuss it with your doctor, but if you listen to your body, you will know how fast you can go up.
If you experience too much discomfort (like I did when I tried 7) you can always go back a click and let your body get used to it.
I hope you find it a lot less worrisome than it looks. I did.
I am 5' 1" and 108, used to be 5'4"! Fractures will do that!
@kay797 I got my Tymlos for free once on Medicare, through Radius Assist.
@mmodestti I had blood tests at 18 months (P1NP) that showed Tymlos was no longer working. So you may not need two years, who knows!
My doc was okay with 6 out of 8 clicks but I wasn't. I did mostly 7. Excellent results.
May I ark What is your height dog weight ?
I did 2 clicks Tuesday
3 yesterday , I have no extreme side effects so far. do you think I should go to 4 today.
Yes it sounds like you could do 4 clicks today. If you have a headache, stay at 4 clicks for a few days unless the headache goes away quickly. If it is short-lived you could keep going up! This is not medical advice but based on my own experience, and approved by my doc.
