Have you tried an internet search for a naturopathic oncologist? Easier now that appts can be virtual. The trick will be getting to the right one. Be sure to note early on that you have high platelets (and list your last count). Once you have that educated opinion, you can talk w/your local doc.
Everyone can’t know everything, so be kind to your allopathic doctor. He or she may not be aware that there are options. And I do hope there are options for you!
Following to hear more about those natural approaches.
There is no way to lower a platelet count through natural means. The reason high platelets are a concern is because they can clot and cause a stroke. Therefore ET patients should always try to keep their platelets from sticking which is why a daily baby aspirin is usually advised. I believe in keeping the blood thin with proteolytic enzymes and herbs that thin the blood. There are many like garlic which is one. You definitely want to prevent the platelets from sticking. The platelet number becomes significant with age as the blood vessels can become stiffer. Look into l- arginine an amino acid that promotes nitric acid at the capillary level which in turn boosts circulation on an empty stomach. (This will actually lower blood pressure too) arginine should be taken with lysine as the two compete with each other. So you don’t want to be deficient in one by taking more of the other. I also like proteolyic enzymes like Neprinol on an empty stomach to clean up the fibrin in the blood.
I don't know how high your platelets are, but if you don't get them down you could have problems. You run a higher risk of blood clots, stoke or heart attack. If you find something natural that helps, please let me know. I did try a healthier diet and certain vitamins, but I didn't find the right combination. I wish you the best. I too am in a sunny location, Arizona. I just wear 50 sunscreen. Aloha!
