I was treated for h pylori. Stool test now negative
Hello, I was treated for h pylori by the Mayo Clinic in October 2015. I recently had a stool test that said it is now negative. I was just wondering about the accuracy of the stool test because I am still experiencing daily nausea. I am hoping someone may have some knowledge on this. Thank you.

With the kinds of antibiotics you were on, be careful of *Clostridium<br />
Difficile *infections of the gut, which can cause nausea but also and more<br />
typically diarrhea. Mayo has great info on this on their site. Any<br />
microbial imbalance can persist until you get high-quality probiotic<br />
treatment. You need billions a day in a dose that keeps them alive (such as<br />
probiotic yoghurt or refrigerated caps like VSL #3, which is pricy but<br />
good). Which probiotics you need and how much can be answered by a<br />
nutrition counselor. I know one in Colorado who does phone consults and is<br />
very very knowledgeable. Erin Livers at Food As Medicine Counseling (<br />

Good luck!<br />
I understood a breath test is more accurate.
Thank you for your reply. I was tested through the Mayo Clinic Jacksonville. Do you have experience with h pylori? Did you receive the breath test?

Yes, I wasn't confident that the antibiotics worked but the breath test I took a few months later was negative. The doctor had told me it was more accurate than other tests but maybe that was because of higher likelihood of false positives after treatment. I don't actually recall why the breath test was considered the best way to follow up but it seemed convincing.<br />
