Radiation and Invasive Lobular Cancer
I am reading a lot about Endocrine Therapy and Chemo options with ILC, but not much on Radiation. Does anyone have experience on effectiveness of this? Most of the research appears to be on ductal.

Yes.
Yes I have had a mastecomy.
I have ILC, had surgery (lumpectomy) Feb 2023, 16 treatments of radiation ending May 2023, now on Anastrozole (OK after starting last month!) for 5 years. Will have MRI 6 months from radiation in Nov 2023. All good so far.
I had invasive Lobular TNBC chose to do masectomy, large tumor and wanted to get rid of any possible microscopic cells in breast. I had 5 weeks of radiation this was because of tumor size.
Thinking of you and if you arent sure of something ask alot of questions.
Hi! I had ILC lumpectomy (1.8cm, no nodes) in late Nov 2022 and finished 19 treatments of radiation at Dana Farber in January. I did have a consult at MGH in regards to proton beam and they didn't think proton beam would be the most effective so I went the traditional radiation with boost. I am on Letrozole and will follow up with diagnostic mammo one year from last mammo that did catch my ILC as my oncologist said change in tissue needs a year to "settle down" to be an effective mammo. With very dense breasts I would like to add MRI.
Good luck xoxo
I feel bad and don't know if I want to have any further treatment or not. I am almost 71 and I don't want to give any more time to cancer.
Yes.
Hi this whole journey is as one fellow patient said to me, be ready for the circus.
I don't know your journey at 71 . I was 68 and am 70 now and if anything comes back I will go thru it all again.
Thinking of you and sending a hug.
I am putting my trust in my surgeon that he removed the cancer and not having any further treatment. I am 71 and just want to get on with my life. I will however have some acupuncture.
tessadaly :
I am older than you and have had radiation and AI.
I will do whatever I can to try to remain healthy as long as I can.
