I have anemia and low blood Platelets due to previous drinking.

Would it be possible for one of your adult children, preferably one who would be a strong advocate for you, to take you to the emergency room at a hospital? It seems to me that you need medical attention soon and this would expedite that.

I don't think they would do anything unless I had cut myself or had symptoms of an internal bleed. I'm so worried 😟

I'm ready worried as I had a pin prick size spot on my finger and I must have caught it during sleep it took me 1 and a half hours to stop it! It was literally dripping! I'm going to call my gp first thing Monday as if this had been a large cut or something internal I would have died. I am putting pics up of just a little of the blood..I'm totally lost as to what to do.

Cheryl, this is not normal. I’m not trying to scare you any more than you are now, but Please get to your doctor ASAP. Don’t wait until Monday morning! Honestly, if this were me, I’d be heading to the ER because there is something serious going on. Your platelet levels could be dangerously low. You may need a platelet infusion and admittance to the hospital.
This constitutes an emergency, my friend.

Your platelets results were low from previous tests but they were taken some time ago. If you’re bleeding this much through your nose, gums and now this pin prick on your finger you need to be seen as quickly as possible! Call your adult children and have one of them take you to the ER. That is the place for you to start.
I know our medical systems are different here in the US than in the UK, but frequent extreme bleeding that won’t stop constitutes an emergency in any country.

I read the description of your A&E and it mentions pooling blood. You qualify and I serioufly doubt they would turn you away. Please get medical attention today.

My significant other has anemia amd low platelets as well from being an alcoholic in the past. We went through some really difficult times in his recovery. Glad to report after a lot of hospital stays and dr appts and god of course he is now over five years sober amd probably healthy than I am. Keep your head up get the medical attention you need and care for yourself as best as you possibly can. It can be done. Praying for you my friend. Here if ya need to talk.

Hi thanks for checking on me. I ended up in a and e. They had to cortorise the bleed as it just wouldn't stop. Other than that they checked my bloods and platlet count was 84 so they were just going to let my hematology consultant know. My doctor has sent him an email too since I complained about lack of help. I think she wants hospital to look into my blood more as it may not be down to my liver. I love this group so thanks so very much ❤️

I’m so relieved you were able to be seen and finally have that area in your nose taken care of to stop the bleeding. That was excessive. Your platelet level is pretty low. Now that your doctor knows it too, I hope her letter to the hematologist will stress the urgency to have them take your case seriously. You made an excellent first step!
