Sometimes, cancer can be difficult to diagnose. Carcinoma of unknown primary is a diagnosis given when doctors can't determine where a cancer began. You have a couple options. Your present Doctor should contact Mayo Clinic in Rochester Minnesota via the Physician Referral Line (he'll have the number) or you can call Mayo yourself to request an appointment @ 507-284-2511. I hope this helps. <br />

sorry to hear that! ten years ago i was told i had prostate cancer by one dr, and they wanted to wait and see what happens,<br />

Thank you sir. I appreciate your response. The doctor told us today that they are "pretty sure" that it's pancreatic cancer. the report from March 7, 2016 said it was indicative of pancreatic cancer and they found a mass, but then his most recent biopsy said that there want any evidence of a mass?! How can that be?! I'm waiting for the oncologist to ask him what's that supposed to mean. Very upsetting and frustrating. <br />

I also agree!there are many very very good Drs. But people dont know that you can change drs <br />
It's ur option to find someone ur pleased with!<br />
Just so you all know,now you am being seen at mayo in Rochester ,mn ,<br />
I have membranous, and cyst in my kidneys,had chemo 12 x over 6 years<br />
And iam very pleased!<br />

Lisa, I would think that with 2 very different things being said (there is a mass vs there is no evidence of a mass) asking for a 2nd opinion is almost mandatory. My oncologist told me first thing, as soon as the lesions were seen on my liver, that she would give me a referral for a second opinion - to get me in faster. This is important stuff here; a second opinion is warranted IMO.

Getting a 2nd opinion does not mean that you have to ditch your original oncologist either - or it shouldn't. I think it is really important to trust in the doctor who is treating you. Since there are questions, hopefully you and your Dad will be able to talk openly and honestly with his oncologist. So hopeful that it gets on a more clear path very soon.

Hi. Thanks for caring to respond back. Well my dad went for the second opinion and they wasted more of his time, but think the same way the Cleveland Clinic does. So right now he's being treated locally and had his first chemo yesterday. I want him to go to the EuroMed Foundation, but insurances don't cover it because it uses the holistic medicine approach coupled with the chemo?<br />
