pimple on inner labia (minor)

hello! recently after i showered, i found a small pimple almost on my minor labia/inner labia. it wasn’t near any hair, but i did recently shave and it’s quite common for me to get pimples and ingrowns around my vagina. i didn’t fully shower for a couple of days since i was at the beach and on vacation. should i be worried about a pimple here? was it from sweat, etc?

This happened to me twice before, and I happened to have doctor’s appointments already scheduled (one with my dermatologist and one with my GYN), and in both cases it was similar to what you described—they told me it’s super common to get a cyst or clogged pore because it’s a warm, damp, enclosed area. They said usually it goes away on its own but if it became painful or if I wanted to speed up the process, I could use a warm compress to encourage draining. Now of course it’s kinda difficult to do a warm compress there! My GYN suggested taking gauze and dipping it in warm water, then folding it up and applying it for a while before changing it.

This used to happen to me more often, and my dermatologist recommended using Hibaclens. It’s a gentle antiseptic wash you can get at the pharmacy, usually recommended for people to use before surgery. I haven’t had as many problems since using it.

Of course the usual disclaimer, if it feels concerning, gets worse or doesn’t clear, it doesn’t hurt to get it checked out if you can. But thought I’d share in case it helps. Hope you feel better soon!
