I have fought diverticulitis for many years now. My Dr. sometimes puts me in hospital for about 3 days, where I am on nearly liquid diet and taking very strong antibiotics by IV (reason for hospital). Usually snaps me out of it for awhile. I've taken Cipro too many times in the past, so doesn't work anymore.
Between 2017 and 2018 my diverticulitis flare ever two months or so. Flagyl and cipro were my constant companions. Finally the gastroenterologist recommended surgery. I went for the consultation but was not convinced. I suffer from numerous autoimmune diseases and was afraid that removing 1/3 of my large intestines may not help.
I asked for alternative treatment. A dietitian was recommended. She suggested a change in diet and recommended FODMAP. This helped but I started having heartburn and other issues. Doctor recommended the elimination of all raw vegetables. I remained on FODMAP but eliminated raw veggies. The ones I was permitted under FODMAP had to be cooked.
I received a second opinion from the Mayo Clinic. In addition to having slow moving intestines the signal for the need to defecate was weak. This led to constipation which led to the diverticulitis flare. Doctors recommended Miralax and a return to eating raw vegetables. Surgery was not necessary. Currently with the use of omeprazole, miralax, lubiprostone and diet I have avoided surgery,
How do you love a normal life. When diverticulitis keeps attacking me. I’ve lost over 20 pounds. Sacred to leave the house and the medications are just as worst as the disease. I’m so miserable and tired of crying being up all Times of night alone. How are you all functioning with this condition

I have the same diverticulitis along with Ehlors Danlos syndrome and Fibromyalga and mass cell activation syndrome. Fiber replacement comes from Juice+ I take. It's a whole food nutrition addition to my diet.

Try stop eating lettuce and stay away from milk. Sure help my stomach issues. And no small seeded foods also.
