Waiting on Results

By precancerous, do you mean DCIS or LCIS?

If it is DCIS , I would ask about the ER and PR status (hormones) and if positive, whether an Oncotype DCIS will be done, a test that often guides treatment.

The two pathology reports I have does not mention either.

Maybe it is not DCIS or LCIS. Does it mention atypical dysplasia? Any other specifics? As always ask your doc- in this case what "precancerous" actually means in your case.

If you have gotten your path results, are you comfortable sharing what it says? I only ask because it is so much easier for me to tell you what I would have asked or did ask at that point in my journey.
Unfortunately, I think there are usually way more questions than answers at this point, and the waiting seems to go on forever.
How are you holding up?

The needle biopsy results:

"show an atypical papillary neoplasm (i.e. atypical ductal hyperplasia involving an intraductal papillary neoplasm".

"The process of atypical ductal hyperplasia within this papillary neoplasm is manifsted by cytological monotony of the lesional cells and relative solid growth thereof. There is sclerosing entrapment of lesional glads at the perimeter of the lesion. The papillary lesion involves multiple cores wherein it maximally spans 0.5 cm".

Waiting the excisional biopsy results.....surgeon said it would take 3 - 4 days for the results.

This is when waiting 3-4 days can feel like weeks. Unfortunately there isn’t a lot you can do now except wait and get as informed as you can. I am glad you found connect. The information from the excisional biopsy will bring questions about what is the next step for you. Please remember you have a voice in whatever your treatment plan will be. If it is benign, they might recommend surveillance to be sure that does not change. If it is malignant, that means a ton of other questions about treatments, side effects, etc.

What are your biggest concerns while you wait?

Thank you very much for providing the information on the other page. I will definitely check it out.

While waiting for the results......the results will be what they are. I cannot change them. I've met with the surgeon who did the muscle biopsy and excisional biopsy twice, and of course I come up with questions AFTER I left his office. It is my understanding, that while he will provide me with the biopsy results this coming week, after that the next step is finding an oncologist.

The surgeon did say that he would be surprised if the results come back as not cancerous. I just don't know if any additional questions would need to be for him, or the oncologist.
