C. difficile And diverticulosis
Guys. I am 32 and stressed out.
I started with diverticulitis and the doctors now think I have C. difficile. I have lost over 20 pounds on this journey of not eating really since January. Can someone please shed some light on how u were feeling with cdiff other than the bowel what else did u experience.

Yes. Flaygl has taking me all the way down. Like I’m not eating I’ve lost so much weight. It’s nothing to play with. It’s making my condition worst. I felt like I was dying I won’t be taking that any more
I agree. Dificid is the only medicine that helped me! I , at first, when I was hospitalized with C-diff, didn't even know there was such a thing as Dificid. I had been on Flagyl, then Vancomycin and they were not effective for me. Thankfully, my Infectious Disease Dr put me on Dificid, and things turned around pretty quickly! So, if you have the option whatsoever, most certainly ask for and get Dificid!
My test came back and I have c diff and I can’t stop crying. This is unreal.
I agree. The last time I had to have it I insisted I be in hospital and had it by IV. I had them give me anti anxiety drugs and anti nausea. It’s so harsh by mouth.
I’m so sorry you’re going this. My husband’s bout of c diff left permanent changes to his gut, but he can live normally now.
1. Vancomycin got rid of the c diff but debilitating diarrhea persisted. None of the additional meds were helpful.
2. Finally, Cholestyramine, a cholesterol lowering drug, stabilized his gut. He started with a full dose of the powder (tastes like Tang) and then tapered down until he didn’t need it.
3. He keeps a supply on hand for flare ups.
I hope this is helpful.
I'm so sorry you're going through this. What helped me was Vancomycin. My doctor put me on it for a month and a half. It worked (thank God!). Prior to taking Vancomycin, nothing would stay in my stomach, not even a sip of water. The pain was brutal, and I pretty much slept next to the toilet. I was dehydrated and lost a lot of weight. Eventually, I had to be hospitalized for a week. Again, the Vancomycin is what worked for me.
I’m on that now. Day 2.
Get on Dificid asap. Don’t mess around with the other antibiotics, they’ll just prolong the misery
PMR patient here. I started on 15 mg pred on May 27. The first week was wonderful, pain almost gone. Now the pain has increased and the dr says I need to go down to 12.5. Gave me Celebrex to cope with pain. Some thoughts please on this plan? I feel I should increase pred to cover the pain. ( not that that’s a happy option). I also have more pain now in tailbone and rectum area. Is this a common area for pain? I also stupidly fell today, hands and knees. Now my whole body has been jolted into pain!!
Also, I’m scared to take Celebrex. It’s not a nice drug right?
