bleeding after radiation
Started radiation in 2021. During the treatments there was blood when I made a bowl movement. Sometimes very little blood other times a lot of blood. Bright red......Prior to radiation treatments I had no problems....During radiation treatments the colon is inflamed.
I still have small traces of blood when I go to the bathroom. I'm not sure if this will ever go away. Any suggestion, please let me know.
My PSA level as of today is .49.
Thanks.............Steve

Varying degrees of rectal bleeding is a side effect of radiation treatment.
You should really ask your doc about this one. Serious complications are rare according to the literature.
Radiation cystitis and radiation proctitis. 40 hyperbaric sessions stopped it for a while. Every time I have a catheter bleeding return. I currently have a suprapubic catheter after a urethroplasty. I can bleed out 3 holes. I have bladder spasms and uti's all the time. Have to live with it. Good luck.
The same for me.....I wish the doctors let me know what I should stay away from as far as food.
I was told to watch my diet!!!! In the morning I usually have 2 bowel movements. The first is hard stools and the second is usually softer. Bright red blood on the toilet tissue. No soreness.

No I didn't. Just 20 treatments of radiation.
Space OAR is not inserted in the rectum. It is injected via a needle in the perineum, positioned in a place where it can push your colon away from the radiation beam.
