Long Haul Covid Devastation
Got mild covid in 12/20/20. I'm now worse than ever, 2 1/2 years later. I've been very active all my l'm 69, I can hardly walk 200 ft, and have to lay down for a few hours. I have severe, fatigue, anxiety, depression, taste & smell OK, No apatite and live alone. Wife of 38 yrs. passed in the beginning of this and my doctor says "I just have to get over that!"
My live is gone. I hope and pray they will persist with research for this but, it doesn't look good.
Sorry for my babbling,
Bill.

Bill,
I understand your dilemma and the solution for me was giving it to a higher power. For me it’s God, Jesus and Holy Spirit. I don’t think doctor’s fully know since this is a new virus. Hang in there and hopefully through research the will hava a answer or a cure.
I live in the country, Waushara County, Wi. The problem is, I can't drive more than 5-10 miles and live alone now, Wife just passed, after a 2 year battle with cancer. My friends and neighbors have gotten all my groceries for over 2 years now. God Bless Them.
GOD is my only hope!
Thank You, Bill.
I hope someone reading this is familiar with Waushara, WI. Sounds like you have wonderful friends & neighbors. I live in NJ. Maybe someone knows if there are any medical centers that can help you via Zoom or FaceTime. I see people talk about being accepted by the Mayo Clinic. They can’t all live in that area. Anyone have any ideas. Praying for you Bill.
Thank You very much.
God Bless, Bill.
William,
Life is full of surprises and COVID is a Hugh surprise. The world is changing too fast that at times I can’t keep up, but we have each other to hang on to. Keep your chin up.
Tom
The hardest part of Long Covid is getting help from the doctors in our life. I'm into month 14, have had symptoms since May 7th, 2019 that imply that I could have a heart attack, stroke, die from liver disease, lose a kidney, and/or become a vegetable at any moment and all say - see your doctor immediately only to have them ignore completely. Apparently, my doctors don't read the research on organ damage, autoimmune diseases or anything else to do with Long Covid.
Every once in a while, we get hints at how hard they are trying to ignore Long Covid - Like the Columbus Ohio individual infected with a new form of Covid. They have tracked this individual to two cities in Ohio 40 miles apart - and apparently, he/she is shedding enough virus that they first thought it was coming from a nursing home rather than an individual. Oh yes, they have been tracking this same individual for over 2 years and think he/she may be a Long Covid Patient.
Think about it - feces went from the commode, was diluted by the water and the pipe, further diluted at the sewerage plant and yet they get a sample of live virus the size of a whole nursing home and this has been going on for two years? Kind of blows holes in the 5 days -Covid is over group or that there is no need to test for Covid anymore. Or that testing is only for identifying the onset of Coved - who cares if it might hang around growing new Covid for two years - and I'm talking about huge dumps of Covid. Did anyone see the memo to submit the covid stool samples at 14, 30, 60, 120 and 365 days? I know I didn't.
God bless you Bill. I'm so sorry to hear about your wife. I can't even imagine the pain, on top of the chronic issues.
Do you have other people in your life who are checking in on you? Children/friends/neighbors?
I'm 35 and have lost my health as of August 2020. It sounds just like your problems. I can't walk very far so I have to use my grandmother's mobility scooter. I didn't get access to that until about 2 years in. It has been HUGE for my mental health to just be able to get out in the neighborhood and get some fresh air.
I can't be around people long because of neurological pain and sensitivity. But I've been listening to these prayers and they help alot - youtube.com/singthehours or singthehours.org
Update us here on how you're doing Bill.

I live in Florida. When I suspected Long Covid I called Mayo in Jacksonville. I was verbally accepted into the Long Covid Recovery Group until I stated that I did not have a positive PCR test. I took the free government test that was mailed to my home in 2022. I was referred to UF in Gainesville who didn’t require the positive PCR test. I waited 8 months for an appointment, but went last month. It was a 1/2 hour meeting, which was helpful. The Covid recovery doc recommended multiple blood tests looking for inflammation, a referral to a rheumatologist, and links to resources. The doctor faxes the results of our meeting to my primary care. They strictly consult since it was a 3 hour drive. I have a virtual follow up appointment in 6 months.
Guys, there's a FB group with a doctor on it from Texas & over 5,000 people now (or more by now) that has been VERY helpful & educational. They post LOTS of articles & helpful info. His name is Dr. Groysman, group is called Long COVID Treatments & Success Stories.
