Echolight sonogram scan for bones
Has anyone heard of, or had an Echolight sonogram scan instead of a radiation DEXA scan? New FDA approved that has been used in Europe for awhile. https://www.echolightmedical.com/en/company/

My sister told me that a doctor was having an Ecolight event at Kripalu and she was trying to book an appointment. I found a web page where Ecolight announces a NYC branch to be opened that will serve as a national hub. There's a web form to contact the company, so maybe messaging to find local doctors will work. Hopefully they'll post a database for us once the NYC branch is up and running. https://www.echolightmedical.com/en/usa-office/
I’m hearing they may be getting one around the Tampa or Sarasota area. You could check with the company. Right now the closest is in NC. I had it done in NJ.
Carolina Orthopedic in Sanford S. Carolina
Trabecular score only measures fragility in the spine. Echolight measures hip and spine.
It's been hard finding a facility that does the TBS/DEXA and/or echolight in Florida. I would really like to have either one before making a decision on meds. It's sad we're not more advanced with equipment to help determine fragility fracture risks before being thrown on meds.
@adr, this connection is amazing here, I so agree! I'm learning something all the time 🩷.
I, too, have been trying to find a facility in Florida. I live in Orlando.
I messaged Echolight (via "contact us" on their website) and they responded stating there is a facility in Tampa:
USF Health Informatics Institute.
The telephone number provided was a general USF Health phone number and the operator could not help me. I went to the USF Health Informatics Institute website and tried to contact a staff member by email. I have not received a response, and it has been over a week. I am convinced that my DEXA scores are either inaccurate or incomplete and would like a second/different test.
I feel the same way about my Dexascan scores and would love to try something new or updated. Let us know if you have any luck. I also live in Florida.
Hi Penny, I'm going to keep searching on the echolight, and ty for your information. I'm still at a loss as to why this disease seems/is neglected and under prioritised.
What I did find was a place for the added TBS:
Vero Beach Radiology Assoc.
Florida. 772-562-0163
I just spent about an hour on the phone with USF Health with no results.
The website for USF Osteoporosis program mentions the REMS technology, but when I spoke to the scheduler for that department, I was told that they do not have such a machine. The scheduler placed me on hold to check with radiology and was told they do not have the machine. Very curious and disappointing.
I do not drive long distances from Orlando (but could take a train to Tampa). Vero Beach is way too far for me to drive. Thanks for the information however.
Unfortunately, I was unable to post a link to the USF Osteoporosis program. FYI key words Diabetes and Endochronolgy; Calcium and Bone Disorders.
I phoned Vero Radiology (Cleveland Clinic) and after being transferred several times, I spoke to a woman in the actual facility. The woman had to check and informed me that the facility has a "new" machine (about a year old) but it is not Echolight, but Hologic. I googled Hologic and learned Hologic is a new version of DXA. I will keep trying. I have an appointment with my osteoporosis "specialist" doctor in Orlando next week and maybe she can help (instead of prescribing drugs with awful side effects).
