Hello @captaintoot and welcome to Mayo Clinic Connect. If you're comfortable sharing, do you have a history with this or personal interest that you can share as a backdrop to your question?

I also did find a research article you may find nuggets of information that may be helpful depending on your personal experience or interest on the topic.

- Bilateral ureteral replacement using ileum in bilateral refractory ureteral stricture with renal insufficiency: a case report and review of literature:

Are you in need of a replacement, personally?

thanks i will look at the info...i am not in need of replacement...it is for my brother...last spring he became ill and went to emergency...turns out his prostate is huge, his bladder is shot and his ureters are deformed, one actually makes a 360 degree turn...since that time he has a permanent catheter as well as 2 stents going up through his ureters to the kidneys to relieve his urine...and they have to be replaced every 3-4 months...needless to say it is very uncomfortable and he is no longer able to work or live a normal life.
