Is there hidden defibrillator inside my body giving me shock?
The electric shock I am experiencing is in the form of a violent convulsion. The best visual description I can provide is my whole body jerks similar to a patient who has been applied a voltage via a defibrillator.
The story gets even more interesting. I can release the electric charge in my body "on command." This I discovered accidentally when I started practicing meditation. When I go deep into a certain meditational state, the electric currents get discharged. At the present time, I am not looking at my condition as an ailment requiring treatment. I am looking at it more like a mystery that needs to be solved. Whoever can help me in any way or even point me in the right direction, will be a recipient of my gratitude.

I experienced the ‘electric shock’ a few times and it’s scary. It’s the ‘Lhermitte's sign’. The link below is quick informative :

Probably meditation calms the nerve and helps.
Thank you @queeniehk for the article on Lhermitte's Disorder. I have some similarities as well as differences with the findings described in the article
Similarities: The electric shock travels up and down my spine to the trunk, arms, and legs.
Differences: I do not have MS, nor is the shock activated by any movements of the neck.
Your response is much appreciated nevertheless.
You may refer to Table 1 in the article which lists more than 20 possible causes of Lhermitte's sign.
I have been experiencing electric shocks in my body, that seemingly had been triggered involuntarily. An hour ago I made a post on TwitterX. I am going to cut & paste the same thing here.
Recently I took a rough and tumble in my spiritual practice. Today I want to share that story with you. I intend to solicit your feedback so I may be able to climb back on the wagon.
Some of you may know only recently I got seriously interested in spirituality. This interest was ignited by the book "The Power NOW" by Eckhart Tolle.
Formerly, I had imagined that spirituality was something mystical or magical. Wrong.
It is, and it is not.
As I speak, I know full well, spirituality is very similar to physical exercise. One has got to do it and do it every day to maintain and enhance its benefits. When I started doing meditation following the guidance in the book, it felt exhilarating. Each day I would want to return to my practice. Then something remarkable happened, which put a long pause in the practice.
When I meditated I had communion with my inner body. I don't like the word body. In my meditations, I came into contact with my inner being. It is like a whole Universe there. That is certainly a mystical feeling.
One day I was lying on the bed and going through the meditative practice. As my observation of the inner universe progressed to an unexplored zone, all of a sudden, my body convulsed in a major electric shock.
The convulsions continued in intermittent jerks. It seemed like my body was lying on the bed and someone was applying defibrillator shocks. It was unsettling, to say the least.
I suspended the inner body exploration immediately. In the subsequent days, the phenomenon continued when I meditated. I could by now recreate a convulsion of demand.
When the electric shocks continued for a few days. I began consultations with certain individuals who were practiced meditators. Everybody became concerned. Some were surprised as well as amused.
One of the expert meditators, familiar with such shocks advised me to immediately suspend my meditations and consult with my Primary Care doctor.
The doctor advised that I get a consult with a Neurosurgeon.
I could not get an appointment until October 6, 2023. . . . . . .
So I am presently in a difficult state.

Hello @nickm. I noticed you had started another discussion a few months back on this same topic, so you will notice that I have moved your most recent post here:
- Is there hidden defibrillator inside my body giving me shock?: https://connect.mayoclinic.org/discussion/is-there-hidden-defibrillator-inside-my-body-giving-me-shock/
I can understand why you are concerned, given that you continued to feel the shocks even when you stopped your meditation practice. Can I clarify if you have an appointment with a neurologist or a neurosurgeon?
Hi @amandajro, I developed some complications as a result of this medical issue, as well as mismanagement of my own medication, where the onus of mismanagement lies on me. Prior to this ER admittance, I had secured via my PCP an appointment to see a Neurologist on October 6, 2023. I was hospitalized from July 30 to August 2 (most of it in the ER) When at the ER I experienced a steep drop in my BG (32) resulting in a loss of consciousness to a near coma state. The good news is that this happened in the ER and were quickly able to revive me. Even better, as a result of this emergency, I was seen by not one but three Neurologists, one of who is in the employment of the hospital. He agreed to offer consultation to my Neurologist whom I will be seeing on October 6. It was my typo, the appointment on October 6 is with a Neurologist and not a Neurosurgeon.
