I was getting scared not being able to pass stool. I was told to take miralax at least twice a day. I take three doses a day and doing well. You can take more if you need to. The miralax draws liquid to the bowels and makes for much needed fluid to soften stools. Three doses makes it very soft and easy to pass. You will have to try and find what dose works for you.

My husband had colon surgery to remove a 5cm tumor and is now on chemotherapy. He's suffering terribly from constipation. So far nothing worked. Any effective advice anyone?

I had the same, 8cm tumor Stage 2. Even 20 years later I have bowel problems from medications I take. I think I've tried it all. I now take Linzess (prescription) that he may need to get from a gastroenterologist. It takes a bit for the body to adjust, but I depend on it now and use it every day. I hope he finds relief, it's miserable to have to fight that. Good luck

There's NY GI DR who developed daily supplement to relieve constip. I ordered online & there was immediate help. Name is VISCERA so you can google for more info. Seems oriental mint is key. Good news did not create diarrhea when I ingested one.
Hope this is helpful to hubby! Swig46

had colonoscopy last fall. Thhey said stool was present, so what he did see was ok. I had it repeated in april. they found one polyp. waiting for results. meanwhile last friday my stool looked bloody. it was dark, like a deep red or aubern. Have little amt. stool all the time. will have some bloody stool with gas. i also had a pet scan in march, it was neg. are these pet scans reliable. I don't understand. They removed the polyp. so why would i get bleeding now.

They said it was pretty big, but it was infection type cells. Will have to keep a close watch on it.
