Telephone Medical Information Review phone call

FYI,
Mayo has started doing "Telephone Medical Information Review" phone calls prior to some appointments. I had one this morning for an oncology appt tomorrow. The representative said they just started this week. Quick 5 minute call to review items they use to do in office prior to seeing provider.

I verified that Mayo was not charging me for phone call.

The call will show up on your portal as an appointment.

Here are questions they asked me, yours may be different based on type appointment.
• Review Medication
• Preferred pharmacy
• Allergies
• Medical devices
• Any questions about upcoming appointment

Thank you for all of your help. I'm hoping that some of the people that have responded saying it only takes about 10 minutes are correct. I'm retired and normally don't have a strict schedule except for that day. I just have to be done by 11:30 and the call is at 10 so I think I'll be okay.

Have Mayo appointment This Wed...On my appointments on patient portal its says Tues at 9 am join for a phone call medical review and the number was attached.
I was told they would call me at 9am.
Am i supposed to call them or are they gonna call me?
With the phone number added now i am confused.
Why does it say join and they added a number?
Also the patient appoint guide wont open it just spins rather i try it on my phone or my computer?

I can see in an effort to give you all the necessary information has created confusion. It is my understanding that they will call you at the appointed time for the medical review.

@mntwins808 @roch @nana75165 @vic83 can you confirm, please? Did Mayo call you for the medical review or were you to call them?

They will call you, last week they called me almost 45 minutes after specified time. If you miss the call, do not worry. Does not effect your Wed. appt. They will just cover info on Wed.

They will ask about medications and allergy's.

You will be called.
I was scheduled for a call at 1130 AM and it came at 11:30 AM. I even received a reminder from a few days in advance.

Note - they gave you the number that they will call from so that you will identify it as a valid phonecall and not spam. If your phone is set to block unknown numbers you will want to add the number to your contact list / or adjust your call blocking settings.

Ok thanks guys i just got a text for phone call at 9 am at my home.
i gave them my cell number awhile back as i will be at work till noon until i hit the road...I hope they call my cell.
I will call in am and make sure my cell is what they call

I have now had several of these type phone calls. Mayo always calls me.
Check out MyChart instructions for these type appointments. Instructions say Mayo will call you within so many minutes of the established time.

You could always ask them to adjust the time of the telephone appointment. And of course give cell as preferred number.
