What to do for chronic pain in my lower back right side?
I have chronic pain in my lower back right side. For over 30 years it never goes away. Different levels but always there. The older I get the worse it gets. I have tried everything I can find or doctors recommend. MRIs show a healthy back no structural damage. Can Mayo diagnose the reason?

You have to have an EMG electrical conductivity test and that located nerves that are not doing well. If your in a large city find out who are the trainers and doctors the sports teams. I saw a fellow that did surgery on Tony Romo and Tiger. He did want to help because I weigh 230 and not 185 nor am I famous.
Good recommendation I did get.
MIR test lumbar, check L1 to L2 and L3 L4 disk problem very likely.
Cold
EMG Test. I have not heard about that before. I will check into that. What did they do to correct the problem? I live in a small town with no large cities close, but if I can find some place that will do this testing I will travel. Do you have constant pain or intermittent pain? Thank you for sharing.
Have you tried meditation or mindfulness. You might get ideas on line.com. there isa lot of news about somatic brain thinking and research on u tube. The author zinn has a new book called mindfulness meditation for pain relief. It has interesting ideas worth reading.the app is lin.com no e on the end just a typing error above.
A neurologist will do those tests also. Mine did the NCT and a couple more that picked up the neuropathy.
Thanks for all the responses. I talked to my doctor about the EMG testing. I did have that testing 4 years ago. It was such a simple test and didn’t take long. I do remember the testing equipment being quite antiquated. Test showed no problems.
Lower back problem can often be attributed to weak muscles in the lower back area. As a 79 y.o. I rarely feel such issues of pain to interfere with my brisk walking or walking with ten pounds of grocery for 20 minutes. or walking up 12 floors in my building, the last one I just did this week and surprised I did without panting! I realise now I had winter clothes weighing me down with 8 pounds or so. I do pilates exercises often, walk daily for at least 45 minutes and in standing position many hours daily. On top of that I do stretches for nearly every part of the body without necessarily planning for them. Wholesome food (almost no Ultra processed foods (Yes I do eat a cake, donut, cookies, chips but almost never too much, have mostly plant based meals, start my day with large glass of cold water and often a citrus fruit. But I LIKE what I eat and what activities I do. That's critical to have Pleasure in life doing what's good for heath. No tests, no meds, or surgeries. I have strong sense of purpose in life that goads me into living healthful lifestyle. IN short: less pleasure of curiosity, friendships, and physical and mental play, the more we are inundated with biological and mental problems.
Electromyography (EMG) measures muscle response or electrical activity in response to a nerve's stimulation of the muscle. The test is used to help detect neuromuscular abnormalities. During the test, one or more small needles (also called electrodes) are inserted through the skin into the muscle.
You can tell the nerve that is causing your problem. By measuring a test voltage applies to the Nerve. It's easy too look up.
Has any of the doctor's mentioned a problem with the facet joint? Not sure if there is a problem there if it will show up on an MRI.
