FOLFIRI cause hot anus ulcers
Hello All,
I'm Khaled from Saudi
Arabia. I was diagnosed with mCRC on November, 2020. On December 18, 2020, I started chemotherapy (FOLFOX) at Mayo Clinic in Rochester, MN. After 6 chemo sessions and 5 radiation sessions, I subjected to a big surgery to remove the cancer from colon and liver. After that, I continued with chemo therapy (FOLFIRI) for just one session and the remaining 5 sessions only with Fluorouracil .After that I had an MRI and the result showed that I'm NED and my body was clear of cancer. I turn back home on October then my CEA has increased up to 10. Then, in KFSHRC in Riyadh I had another MRI and CT scan and the result showed that there are around 5 tumors back to my liver .Then the consultation group decided to make another surgery. I had the surgery in May 2021. After two months of surgery, I had an MRI scan and unfortunately the tumors returned again to my liver. Then my doctor decided to get back to chemo therapy starting with 6 sessions of FOLFOX then 8 sessions of FOLFIRI out of 12 as planned.
My concern is that I strongly suffer from a very hot anus ulcers that lasted for ten days at least and prevented from sleeping for 3 days with a strong pain, it feels like embers in my bottom. Does anyone have a similar case? And what is the treatment for this case?
Thank you in advance!

@bakerkt, the ulcers sound very painful and obviously losing sleep makes healing a challenge. I'm tagging other colorectal cancer members who have experience with FOLFIRI like @colca and @barbgunter67 to see if this is a side effect they had to deal with.
Khaled, how often are your chemo treatments? Did you experience the painful ulcers this latest round?
Since I began infusion and pump I've had diarrhea and anus inflammation, very sore, hard to sit and. many times. standing.
I've been trying baby rash cream seems to assist in calming down.
Thank you, Young,
Acutely, my treatment plan is to have chemo every two weeks, and I was experienced this painful since the first FOXFIRE (I had Eight sessions so far and six Fol fox earlier)session but was not last for more than Four days and got worst with next chemo.
FYI, I had PET Scan last week and It's showed an inflammation along the whole colon canal and I have appointment next week with colon and rectum specialist doctor for his advice.
Thank you again, Young for your help.
Sorry to hear about the whole colon inflammation. What did the colon and rectum specialist recommend?
@tenpro, how are you doing? Does the baby rash cream continue to help?
Im doing as well as can be expected. to things help with rectal soreness, I first use a bidet, to wash the area every time I go then add the salve plus lidocaine mixed and it seems to calm down, NOthing else helps but this way at least the pain is temporarily gone or I should say calm down.
Try it at least it's a temorary relief.
Good day all،
I consulted two doctors and they advised me with the following :
First Doctor advised me to instal anastomotic bag
Second Doctor advised me to perform a colonscopy and that what I work on to do
Regards,
Good day all,
Refernce to my above subjet , I would like to inform you that the inflamation on my bottom has approximtely cleared once I stopped take Avastin with Folfiri.
FYI and thanks to all
Colon reaction resulting in needing to have an ostomy bag . Have a small tumor located between my bladder and rectum
Experienced the same burning problem.
On the same chemo meds as you
Gastroenterologist recommended hydrocortisone 2.5 rectal cream.
It helped me to at least reduce the pain and burning. It did burn initially but then subsided
Discuss with your Dr to see if it might be a solution for you
