Water Testing

Posted by tconz @tconz, Feb 26, 2023

I had my water tested and Mycobacterium chimaera 1 CFU/mL was detected but the rest were negative. Has anyone ever had this detection in their water?

Thank you. There are many kits. Did you use this kit?

Thank you very much. They are quite expensive but I will try.

Yes, that is the correct one. It is expensive but worth it to find out if and how much Mycobacterium was in my water supple.

hi @tconz Since there's one sample per kit, how did you figure out where to draw the sample? Shower, kitchen, etc? Also, how did you find SimpleLab (TapScore)?

REPLY

Simple Lab was highly recommended through one of my support groups. I chose the kitchen faucet to get my sample from since it is used so frequently.

I have also used Simple Lab twice and although it takes at least a month for the results, it gave me peace of mind that my shower was MAC free so that was worth the money

@equanimous

Great to learn about water testing. I live in a condo complex so raising heater temp is probably not possible. But...I am wondering if there is a good shower/filter for bacteria, chloride. I don't know if this is a ridiculous question but I thought I'd ask.

I live in a condo as well and agree, adjusting the temp of the water heater is not possible. I recently purchased a antimicrobial shower on Amazon. I don't know how effective it is but I thought it would be better than the one I had. I am soaking it in bleach every month to clean it. Here is the Amazon link:
