@everettcatlin, Diagnosing PMR is a process of eliminating other possible conditions and no specific test for PMR. That and there are quite a few other conditions that mimic PMR symptoms.

"Diagnosis. There's no specific test to diagnose polymyalgia rheumatica. Your doctor will make a diagnosis after listening to you talk about the history of your symptoms and by carrying out a physical examination. You'll also have blood tests to check for any inflammation in your body, and to rule out other conditions."

I feel that a certain type of bacteria due to a scratch that I had received from my dogs nails started all of the PMR symptoms within 4 to 7 days for me and at first I really didn’t know what was going on until I was so stiff eventually, and my joints were so inflamed, but all testing would show everything as OK, it was very sad lack of interest, and care received from doctors.
