I purchased My Pillow.com slippers in a larger size due to swelling and pain. I ordered half size up from my normal size. I have bought more sneakers and slippers trying to get the right pair I can walk in. So this is what I’ve got for now until the pain (if it ever does) subsides.

I went on vacation with back spasms and foot pain (severe nerve damage). My guy ended up having to do all the lifting and packing up. I could not do it. Could not really walk. Was miserable. Please be realistic with your abilities. See a podiatrist before you go (as suggested by the gentleman). Know what you can feasibly do and what you cannot. Be prepared for anything. This will insure your vacation goes well.

Best of luck.

@nemo1, thanks for your good wishes. I continue to exercise and hope for the best. I will do my best and will rest when needed. @joybringer1

I had burning feet and big red toe and was told it was gout 20 years ago. Given Norotin - helped but bad side effects. Now take Pure Encapsulations alpha lipoic acid. After 2 weeks, the burning has stopped, the tingling and red greatly reduced plus no bad side effects except it's expensive. Brands make a difference. If don't use Pure Encapsulations, try Thorne.

I don't think I have gout. A friend had that and he was in bad pain. Thank you for the suggestions of what to take. I will see if I can find one of the two things you mentioned. Best wishes, @joybring1

I have numbness/tingling in ankles/feet all day. My favorite socks are by Allbirds and Bombas.

For me the most comfortable walking shoes are Allbirds Wool Runners and Tree Runners. For my street walking every morning I wear Asics.

@redgiles, I tried Bombas and they did not work for me. I will have to look into the Allbirds and the walking shoes. These brands are not familiar to me. Thanks, @joybringer1

Does anyone have suggestions for burning feet? My soles are very sensitive and are quite red by the end of the day. My first few steps when I awaken hurt. We are planning on a much-needed vacation that will involve a lot of walking. I don't want to disappoint my husband. I purchased two pairs of shoes, but they will not work. I tried wearing each around the house and dread telling my husband they won't work. I have purchased a number of different socks hoping that would help. Is there such a thing as a "cooling" insert? Any suggestions will be appreciated. Thank you! @joybringer1

Have you tried soaking your feet in cold water upon wakening for 10 minutes?

I have problems with my feet. I purchased scholls inserts from amazon and that have helped.

Yes inserts have helped significantly. These are the two that work for me - Dr. Scholl's SORE SOLES Pain Relief Orthotics (have small bubbles) and Powerstep Pinnacle Insoles. I switch them out occasionally.

@roosterry, Hmmmm, when I was in PT for my knees and balance, my therapist commented about my high arches. I wonder if I should look for an arch insert. It is something else to consider. Maybe we will receive other useful thoughts about our burning feet. Best wishes, @joybringer1

Thanks so much for your suggestion...I have tried arch supports to no avail, and I personally do not think the terrible pain in soles of feet is connected to pn as the pregabalin seems to take care of that pain. The only difference lately is that my legs right up to my knees feel like wood, heavy, kind of numb, and makes my balance even worse, as sometimes wonder where the hell my legs are due to this "wooden" feeling. Someonese suggested seeing a good podiatrist so am trying to book an appt now....When it gets this bad and stops me walking, I am ready for anything, and have also booked an accupuncture appt. Why not, willing to try almost anything !! Thanks again, hi to all fellow foot pain sufferers, Terry

No. My feet are not much of a problem in the morning. They worsen as the day progressives.

Good morning, all! In all of my interactions with medical folk, specifically in light of this thread about burning feet and numb legs, I am found it to be extremely important to ask any clinician, including (and maybe especially including physical therapists) if they've had experience helping people with our various neuropathies. My biggest complaint, as a result of my idiopathic peripheral neuropathy, is poor balance (oddly enough, with no pain). I have had occasions to work with a number of well-meaning physical therapists, only to discover that our sessions were aimed primarily at helping people whose advanced age was the sole cause of their balance issues. I would have to explain that, as a person with idiopathic PN, my sensations are often quite different and need somewhat different approaches. –Ray (@ray666)

Hi Ray, totally agree with you re: balance. I am 81, have a lot of heart issues, osteoarthritis in knees, peripheral neuropathy, plus peripheral arterial disease....Me with the painful feet and wooden feeling legs, and often severe cramp like pain in both legs, even at rest. It is excruciating pain, BUT my balance is shot as well, and it definitely is not due to my age...It is for sure the neuropathy.....and it is bad, especially a slight rise in the level of ground, trying to step off a deck, just a short 6 inches from ground.....A cane does help, but I hate it as it makes me look like an old man ( ha ha) Terry
