What to use for anxiety with higher heart rate and a sensitive body.
What can I take for anxiety that has low side affects? My body is very sensitive and my heart rate has been affected by being higher than usual. Also have had some palpitations. Tightening in throat. I am only 100 pounds.

Hi @jnwcrew. If i may kindly suggest from my own similar experience and so many others posting their journeys with side effects to anything taken or no improvement, have found breathing exercises and meditation have helped considerably when done as soon as any symptom starting or worsening. Also lots of hot water with whatever benefits you, like green tea or kombucha, throughout day. True stick to it pacing extremely helpful but know life doesnt always allow it.
Kindness for yourself with patience and time will show improvement🌈
Thank you so much for your response and help 🙂
Hi Jnwcrew,
I have high blood pressure and the thing that helps me the most is Amlodipine. It takes your blood pressure right down to normal. My blood pressure is usually in the 118/70 range. I’m also very sensitive to everything. I have had no problems with Amlodipine or bad side effects. It has to be prescribed by your doctor.
Also drinking a lot of water is very good for your body and your nerves. Plus eating more naturally is important for anxiety. Read labels and stay away from pre-prepared foods, TV dinners, canned soups etc. They are all full of preservatives that aren’t good for your body and can cause anxiety. My husband and I make a lot of things from scratch and eat a lot of fresh things. We also never eat out because they use so many foods with preservatives in them; especially fast food places.
Prayer is relaxing also and it works. God is your best friend. Just tell him your problems.

For high heart rate, try eating a low histamine diet for several months.
I discovered an app called “Insight Timer” . It has a large library of relaxation techniques. It has helped me with falling asleep and when I’m very anxious during the day, I listen to one of the guided meditation videos, Im sixty three and never did that before. Gentle yoga at home - there is an online subscription - in real time with other practitioners. Do not be tempted to use Xanax on a regular basis. Coming off it is a nightmare.
Hi there. I also have anxiety issues, tachycardia & palpitations. I’m extremely sensitive to medications & dosages. Sound familiar? I was diagnosed w Dysautonomia/POTS about 10 years ago by a cardiologist that specializes in this illness. There are other types of Dysautonomia, not just POTS. I have health problems from these as well. POTS causes the BP to drop when you stand up. BP drops & heart rate increases in response to that. Due to my med sensitivity, I have to titrate my medication doses even if I’m taking the lowest dose available. My Dr advised me to start w a “nibble”, then go up from there until I reach what I determine is an effective, tolerable dose. Ofcourse, you can’t “nibble” capsules. There are meds I just can’t take/tolerate. I also titrate OTC meds, Ex. Benadryl. I take Propranolol (Beta blocker) for Tachycardia which decreases my palpitations & anxiety. I’ve read where Dysautonomia has been diagnosed as a long COVID illness. My Dysautonomia is Familial. Stress & anxiety cause symptoms to flare, worsen. A flare can last days, weeks, months, years. There are a triad of illnesses that may accompany Dysautonomia. These are Sjögrens Syndrome, EDS or hyper mobility & MCAS. I have all of those as well. Their symptoms will also flare due to stress & anxiety. I hope you find this info helpful.
(I’m 5’7”, 115lbs; underweight w low BMI. My weight has decreased to 104lbs during a flare. 115 is my normal wt.)
I had some of those symptoms prior to having Covid 3 times. (Vaccinated and boosted) It has made it all so much worse.
Drug-free, science-based options (from an HSP):
My neurovirologist recommended Qi Gong among my very first Tx for my long covid. It was immediately and cumulatively the single best thing I've done to equilibrate the autonomic nervous system.
It's real science, not woo-woo. YouTube, 20 minute sessions, 3 times weekly. I like Yoqi.com/Marisa Cranfill.
Butterfly hug also helps in an acute state (see attached img).
P6 acupressure bracelets help me with anxiety, dizziness, and derealization.
