@lgerkin What I suggest is to look at this discussion about myofascial release therapy. MFR is done by a physical therapist or massage therapist who has this special training. It is a gentle slow way to stretch the tight fascia that is restricting movement. If stretching is forceful, it can tear fascial tissues and create scar tissue which adds to more tightness and that can increase pain. MFR work is also beneficial to treat tight surgical scar tissue. I have done MFR work with my physical therapist for treatment of TOS (thoracic outlet syndrome), and post surgical issues with spine surgery and a fractured ankle. I recommend it, and most people can benefit from it.
