First, yes any sustained diet change can absolutely affect your hormones causing irregular periods as you may not be getting the nutrients your body needs. The stress of moving and a new environment is also a factor. You are kind of young but peri menopause is not out of the realm of possibility.

However, I would be concerned about your description of blackish sticky blood. Any changes in menstrual cycles need to be assessed by a Doctor. I am interested in what country you are living in.

Communicating across language barriers is a challenge. You must seek medical help and ask for an interpreter before you go to any hospital or clinic or private facility. They may have English speaking staff members who could facilitate. Let us know if you have family or friends as support or someone who speaks the language to act as a reliable interpreter. It sounds like you are alone and I don’t know if you plan on living in your new country for any length of time.

Please don’t be afraid to insist on an Interpreter and make sure that person is available for your appointment. Please do this immediately . You need to set your mind at ease and alleviate the stress If you were back home in your own country you wouldn’t hesitate to seek a qualified medical opinion. But I understand your situation and uneasiness.

Would love to hear how things go.

Hi Doctor,

First of all, thank you for your reply and suggestions. I have just shifted from India to China. Yes, I am alone here and will be living quite a significant amount of time here. Strangely the bleeding that started yesterday was just enough to soak only a single pad and today it has disappeared. So, I am thinking about what is going on. I am really concerned about it and thinking of visiting a doctor here. Thank you so much for your understanding and empathy.

with best regards,
Saumi
