My clinic refused it and they told me i would not be able to use there service any more. Im in pain all the time Ive done p.t. tens injections exercise heat ice nothing else works but medication! I feel like im walking around with a ten lb. BOWLING BALL on my shoulders. Im just so tired from hurting every day!😪

I have scoliosis also, but the deal seems to be minding my posture and keeping hips and sacrum flexible -- PT really has made a difference. The basics I do are cat/cow/child/cobra yoga, clamshell stretches and piriformis stretches. Water exercise is great, too. No meds do it all. I am on Etodolac, and use THC/CBD tincture at night. Also, avoiding inflammatory foods makes a difference. ice/heat, epsom salt baths...
@marye2 I am impressed what all you do to help your pain from scoliosis. I tried a trainer, which hurt my back, then gentle yoga, another epidural. Lastly I tried swimming class, which really make my back hurt. After going to Mayo, I had an ablation, which worked maybe up to 2 weeks. I saw a surgeon, which said I could have a fusion surgery for my degeneration which has caused my scoliosis, plus stenosis, bulging discs, etc. So finally after a year, it took longer because I had to see an endocrinologist and that took months. He put me on Tymlos to increase my bone mass and had to do the injections everyday for six week before the surgery, which the Cobid-19 and the MN government opened up elective surgery. Now finally I'm getting a fusion from T-10 to my pelvis on June 9th. But, I'm so proud of you and I hope to get more exercise once I heal.
I have been living a similar story. I went through rigorous PHYSICAL THERAPY for 2 years at 15 to avoid fusion surgery. I did hydro therapy 4x a week and PT 3x a week. Slept in a Charleston bending brace at night that felt claustrophobic and gave me contact dermatitis due to allergies to neoprene and other man made material.
No relief really throughout my lifetime. Just avoided surgery, and lived with pain. Still trying everyday to get through ten minutes at a time during fibromyalgia flares. No pain management besides a Tens unit, heating pad...stretching and my yoga trapeze. I know pain. We have danced most of my life, and I'd love to change the music.
I am so sorry for your pain experience. It is terrible. Pain definitely changes your personality. I pray they can find something to help you. I am in pain 24/7 and walked away from a good career I worked very hard to achieve. It’s never easy.
Hello everyone. I too have scoliosis, but most of my pain is from kyphosis as well as the osteoporosis in my thoracic spine. I just wanted to give you all this information to take a look at ….Scolicare. They are based in Naples Florida and it is the only one in the country. I have an appointment on Monday and I will post after that and let you all know what I think. I have had 5 spinal fusions but nothing in the thoracic which is incredibly painful. I feel for all of you who are suffering with this pain I know how life-changing it can be.
I am so sorry that u are going thru this, and I hope you’re not going thru it alone.
I have a long history of using all the same tools to help me get through my pain, including surgeries, multiple surgeries too.
I’ve had mild scoliosis and flat back syndrome. The last 2 surgeries have given me the longest lasting relief, and they were difficult to go through and to do!
There are only a handful of spine surgeons (so I was told) that could perform the procedure. I can honestly say I’m walking upright because of it.
In closing I would add that having an intimate relationship with God helps and continues to carry me thru!
I sincerely hope they can help you. Is there services covered by your health care?
Yes the only thing that is not covered is the first day with the X-ray of the full spine and the measuring of the spine. But I think Secondary insurance will pick it up. $250.
Wanted to report in. I am not sure , the jury is out at this point I did go to my appointment they take extensive x-rays from the pelvic floor up through your neck, a lot of measuring lots of pictures and a lot of exclamation.. I did have to pay the 250 out of pocket do not quite understand why that is. I think I have more questions than I did going in after leaving I go back in a week to find out what the plan is. I did speak with my spinal surgeon. He does not agree with the brace encouraging muscle movement,, he said that any kyphosis brace is going to cause more atrophy if used at length as they want you to do. Not sure that I am a candidate as of yet anyway,. I will see what he says next week and possibly do PT there. They do deal a lot with scoliosis as well and I’m sure with younger people with developing spines it might be wonderful treatment program.
The biggest hump is getting in the initial prescription. Whether it's by pain management or a primary. Once you go through pain management, You're more likely to find a primary to continue your prescription. As of then, it's part of your medicines. Be well.
