Sounds to like a trip to Mayo would help. I had a partial shoulder replacement that did not turn out well. My doctor kept trying to figure out what was wrong and not really doing any thing to help. I went to Mayo. The doctor at Mayo said "let us do it our way". May did a full shoulder replacement and I have not had any problems - every thing is back the way it should be.

1 ReactionI have not seen anything in the posts about what is causing the thigh pain after hip replacement surgery,, does anyone have a clue as to what is actually is?
Wow @mimi1957 sounds like we have the same Dr,, he just keeps telling me there is nothing wrong, and if it continues maybe I should see an ortho for my back,, DUHHHH,, its not my back,,,, The thigh pain sometimes is so intense, it feels like its in a vise,, clamping so hard I can barely stand it,,.. From a sitting position, when I stand I have to wait (slightly bent over), till it "releases", pops back into place,, or whatever its doing,, I use these terms because I dont know what its doing,, so I have to try to describe what it feels like.. Its horrible to be in pain and be treated like your making it up,, I wish you good luck with yours..
@frister did you ever have any kind of back problems? I ask because I have constant thigh pain but I had a fracture back and Dr.said my nerves going to legs where being pinched. Ask your Dr. to do a back x-ray? Maybe it has something to do with your back Our bodies are so complicated when it comes to causes
My surgeon suggests after seeing my MRI that shows inflammation that the implant is rigid and the femur is flexible so creates irritation at the tip of the implant which is referred down the thigh. Mine started intermittently and increased tis i could not bear any weight what so ever and also began weeks later in my other leg - same pain just slightly higher and to the outside... (i had bilateral hip replacement) I have been using crutches and anti inflammatory for 2+ weeks now but no significant reduction in pain. almost 6 pos after surgery.
My surgeon told me I could not have an MRI because of the metal in the implant in my new hip.

1 ReactionSome depend on the kind of metal and then there are some newer MRI machines that can handle various metels. Just hae to find out what you are compatible with.
