@mpeters, good new discussion to start. I modified the title slightly in order to gather tips from other members like @annabelle6dawgs @mgm223 @kitty2 @sallyw133 @lskoehl62 as well. They have shared strategies for successful colonoscopy prep in these related discussions, but it would be good to have them all in one place:

- Redundant / Tortuous Colon Colonoscopy Prep Problems https://connect.mayoclinic.org/discussion/redundant-tortuous-colon-colonoscopy-prep-problems/
Mayo Clinic offers these tips in this blog post:

I am not greatly troubled by the taste of the GoLytely; I suck on a lemon before drinking it. I”m having a hard time understanding what I could do in what the doctor calls “expanded” prep as I’m already drinking two preps, one per day. I’m fasting for two days, and limited diet for a week leading up to the procedure. My plan is to get an appointment with doctor or nurse and discuss my history and what can be done. My maternal grandfather and uncle died from colon cancer. I was tested to see if i have the colon cancer gene and I did not, but was told with the high numbers of polyps I’ve had, it’s likely I have a gene that has not been found yet. I have read your posts with interest and concern for your precancerous polyps. I’m thankful for this online support group.
I had aa colonoscopy but it was incomplete because they couldn't push through an area. I've had 2 barium test but medicine can't get through. My colon is full if poop before the twist. Dr wants to do another barium in 2 weeks. Is this the normal procedure for a twisted Sigmund colon? Has anyone had a similar experience? Thank you
Thank you.
Had large precancerous (benign) polyp 2012 (first colonoscopy, lots of symptoms for years, who knew?) Followup (same doctor) 2014. Advised to wait five years after that.
Next gastroenterologist (first one moved to CA) was some sort of jack the ripper murderer. Why, you might ask? He found a tubularvillous 2cm polyp and DIDN'T TELL ME ABOUT IT because (in his notes, which I read when I sent for the records for the new gastroenterologist) because he found my colonoscopy "very difficult". He actually told my former PCP (I fired her too) that I should have a cologuard test next time instead of a colonoscopy!!
So I was terrified by this new doctor and I don't respond well to fear and terror. It makes me ANGRY. He scared the heck out of me "You should have had followup in three years, it's almost four now". Scheduled for 9/14.
Problem: YOU CANNOT TALK TO ANYONE IN THIS OFFICE, EVER. The machine takes messages. They never call you back. I called for an appt. on this past Wednesday and today is Saturday, no call back. He joined a practice that I don't like, I never liked, and don't want to go there. He might be good (referred by a retired doctor I know) but he's in a TERRIBLE practice.
I got hemorrhoids about 6 weeks ago, first ones ever and I'm old. Now I'm terrified of the prep. Because of those stupid things, I lost five pounds in six weeks: change of diet trying to avoid any sort of straining during BM. So this prep is going to set me back and give me another six weeks of hell with these hemorrhoids and I can't afford to lose any more weight, I'm only 115 pounds.
I'm thinking of just letting it go. I'm so traumatized already, I have so much grief from losing my daughter in 2011, I have an anxiety issue now because of her death, I just don't know what to do. I don't want to hear horror stories OK? I looked for another Dr. and across the river in the hospital that does all my imaging (mammo, etc.) there's a gastro Dr. whose office is actually in the hospital if something goes wrong. I have no idea who he is, haven't called the office yet. I haven't found one single doctor I can trust upstate NY here and I'm living here 20 years now.
What % of tubularvillous adenoma come back? What % of those turn to cancer? How long does it take one of those to turn to cancer? Could one have developed to 2cm in only five years or did the gastro Dr. from 2014 miss it? WHAT SHOULD I DO I have no one to talk to.
GI Dr. insists on colonoscopy, I have a history of benign but precancerous bad type polyps (four colonoscopies since 2011). Last summer got a horrible hemorrhoid after really straining (dumb I know!!!) It seems internal AND external. I am too old for surgery (over 72) and this thing is permanent and bothers me all the time.
I'm terrified of the prep. I'm so terrified I'm thinking of not getting this procedure. I know I'm at high risk of colon cancer because of these polyps they always find but I lost TEN pounds because of changing my diet to higher fiber (made it WORSE, MORE constipated and hurt the hem worse!) and a case of diverticulitis (no infection, just inflammation) in December where they put me on Augmentin when I didn't need it and I spent 6 weeks with a very serious yeast infection. I weigh 105 pounds I cannot lose one more ounce.
Anyone with a bad internal/external hemorrhoid do this prep without serious complications and weeks of pain? I can't go any more time without eating. Right now, I'm still taking miralax every day (reducing dose) because the yeast infection really messed up my bowel biome and that prep is going to do it again!!! HELP!!!!
I got the SUTAB pills. 12 mid-size pills with 2- 16 oz cups of water. Then 30 mins later 16 oz. of water, 30 more minutes 16ozs of water. I flushed out within 2 hours. No drinking of the dreadful stuff!!!!! At 4am, I had 12 more pills and 2- 16 oz. of water. 1 hr. later 16 oz. I had to leave to the hospital, so the last 16 oz. I drank on the way. In the morning, I only really had liquid. It was orange which was the pills residue. By the time i was wheeled in for the procedure, I was cleaned out of my liquid.
Result- Excellent on cleaning out per the doctor.
It is a lot of water.
7 days before cut fiber, eat white bread and white items like cottage cheese and yogurt. Egg Whites. 1 day before stop eating by 12 noon. Only the clear fluids.
No food till after the colonoscopy.
I could have vanilla wafers the week before. I ate a bunch before noon. I had Lorne Doones 1st in the recovery room.
At home, I had no pain, urine normal and results from the doctor and 4 pictures of my colon that had nothing to see. No polyps or cancer. I go again in 10 years!!!!
I needed to post as I was offered a choice by my doctor, so I asked my pharmacy to check with my insurance. SUTAB does not seem to be available to all yet. I suggest you look it up when you need a test. It works.

Is Natural Calm a good alternative to Miralax for colonoscopy?
