To answer your question: Is signing up for the patient portal required prior to your visit?
It's not required, but recommended. Having the portal can help keep your appointments organized and to get messages from your team and coordinators.

Here's where to sign up: https://signup.mayoclinic.org/?ApplicationID=24e83c70-19b1-4a2f-9412-fd5838c56be7

Do you have your patient number to sign up?

One advantage of using the Mayo portal prior to your appointments is the ability to fill out any forms / questionnaires prior to checking in.

If do not fill out ahead of time, the desk attendant will give you tablet to complete the forms while waiting for appointment.

The portal can be used from computer (browser) or smart phone. By downloading the app on your smart phone, you can access while at clinic.

Hi @da69, I would definitely sign up for the patient portal even though it's not required. I like that the portal makes it easy to add the appointment to my calendar on my iPhone. When you have multiple appointments on a day, it also is easier to look at the portal to find the times and locations without having to carry printouts with you. Probably one of the biggest advantages for me mentioned by Laurie @roch is being able fill out any questionnaires using the portal and not having to do it at the appointment desk.
