Does anyone know if adding a protein drink each morning help with NP? I am also using it to increase my metabolism to lose weight.

Jb3. I've had pn for about 10 yrs that I can tell. I don't know if the Whey protein smoothie helps pn or not but as a practical, healthful matter 20-30 gr. if protein in the am is a good way to start your day for several reasons. I do it as well. I also do 3 such smoothies mon, we'd and fri which are my gym days. Johnmacc

Along the same lines, I've now talked to two chiropractors, one in Tucson, AZ and one in a small town in South Dakota. They both claim that in many cases they can "cure" PN by using a program that involves nerve stimulation and supplements. He mentions using a protein supplement. So I am wondering if anyone out there has gone to one of these new breed of chiropractors. They are quite pricey and don't take any form of insurance. I did buy a nerve stimulator called NerveSpa (online). According to the instructions, it can take 4 - 6 months to see results and I just started so it will take a while. However I bought it on the recommendation of a friend who claims it did cure his neuropathy. We'll see!

Hey Monive. Let me know how that nerve stimulator does. If you don’t mind sending me a note the results after six months I really appreciate it.Byersj3@gmail.com. I’m not sure about chiropractors. They are not a nerve doctor. I try to process where they stimulate. My feet cost me $60 a session and did not go anywhere. Question on the protein is how much is too much. I did read that older people are lacking in protein and it was better to take it in the morning so you have a high level protein through your day. It also increases your metabolism so if you’re trying to lose weight, it might work.

Yes, starting the day with 30 grams of high quality whey protein shake is an excellent way to start out the day, especially if you're middle age or older. Also include excercise too, your body will thank you. Johnmacc

I do drink a protein shake every morning and have been doing so for several
months. I don't know if the protein is helping yet but I love the shakes so I would drink them anyway. I use a fruit of some kind, usually blueberries, bananas or apples or a combination, yogurt, milk and the protein powder. I use one of those little mini blenders that have their own sippy cups.
